I figured out the problem. When you search on purple-facebook
the first and only option is purple-facebook:i386.  If you search for
Architecture and select All you find just purple-facebook. I do not
remember that being an issue on my other computer but Ill make
note of that now in the future.

I'm not sure to follow, which files are you talking about ?

If those are some ubuntu packages, I just installed purple-facebook and
none where removed. (on Xubuntu 14.04).
I did not notice any removed files anyway.

Are you 64 or 32 bit?

Look at these screen shots. Look a the slider on the right.
Its hundreds of files. Ive not seen anything like this before.

AFAIK none of these package should be removed and none are related to
pdigin installation.

Imo you either misconfigured your repositories when adding the pidgin one,
either you had a problem before.
