So damned many Firefox add-ons that won't install on Seamonkey...

For SM there was, at one time, a script that gave you this ability.
The script no longer works with the current SM so now what we do is edit
the xpi file (rename to .zip, unzip, change the text file that gives
compatibility, re-zip, rename) then install again.

Aha! Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Odd behavior SM2.12.x

2012-09-20 Thread W3BNR
Since 2.12 came out I notice an odd behavior.
When clicking on a link in an e-mail window, the browser window comes up and
loads and then there is an immediate return to the e-mail window.

Running Windows 7 Home Edition and the following add-ons (all had been working
fine with previous versions of SM so I don't think it's an addon problem):

* BetterPrivacy 1.67 (http://netticat.ath.cx/extensions.html)
* Display Mail User Agent 1.6.9
(http://www.juergen-ernst.de/addons/dispmua.html)
* DownloadHelper 4.9.10 (http://www.downloadhelper.net)

* FireFTP 2.0.4 (http://fireftp.mozdev.org)
* Flash and Video Download 1.16 (www.fnvfox.com)
* JavaScript Debugger 0.9.89 (http://www.hacksrus.com/~ginda/venkman/)

ED, this problem has been covered here in the last few days (tried to

which, it seems, you don't use, so I don't know!!

Very similar here.

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20120909
Firefox/15.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.12.1

No add-ons.
I find this new behavior very annoying.
But I think that it must be intentional, i.e. broken as designed.
I find the whole window and tab threading structure in SM to be confusing.
Sometimes following a link will open a new window, while at other times
it opens a new tab attached to the current window. Which contents will be
displayed on the screen (focus?) must be according to some rules but not
intuitively clear.

You can disable Protected Mode by adding the line ProtectedMode=0 to the

(Windows 64bit) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

Font size changes seemingly on its own,

2012-09-20 Thread anne
Hi, I'm in one of those darn loops and can't see the problem.

I uploaded the page so you can see what I'm talking about. Down in the last
quarter or so of the page I've got a series of FAQS. As you can see the font
size starts to reduce until it's darn near invisible.

http://aboutwritingsquared.com/join2xx.htm

It shows correctly in the preview.

I erased everything from the first wrong sized faq and started over... got into
trouble with the right hand column... had to re-ad it.

Can you help me spot what's not closing or what's getting added and tell me how
to both fix it and avoid it in the future?

Thanks So much!

Yet another page doesn't work that is using jQuery. This is becoming a
very common situation.

Not to me. While I do not see diminishing font sizes as you claim, in the
(Print?) preview, your in-line images are not floated within the
paragraphs. They are separate as if in paragraphs by themselves.

 I erased everything from the first wrong sized faq and started over...

Well, after looking at your source and seeing all the errors in coding, I
will venture that your problem lies with your blogging template. For
starters, there are *at least three* headbody sections on the page.

Along with:
http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1uri=http%3A%2F%
2Fwww.aboutwritingsquared.com%2Fjoin2xx.htm%2F
Errors found while checking this document as XHTML 1.0 Strict!

http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?
profile=css21warning=0uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aboutwritingsquared.com%
2Fjoin2xx.htm%2F
Sorry! We found the following errors (9)

Once you get the page error-free, please re-check and then ask again.

Delay opening and closing FaceBook
