Click on the xlsx file. When you get 'Open With', select 'Other'. Browse
to your soffice shell (not soffice.bin) and click. Then check the 'Do

I though with these fast track updates we were not supposed to have
bugs. :-)

As of yesterday there were 16 users of the Aurora build which I believe
was updated to Beta today.

http://www.seamonkey-project.org/news#2012-11-26

Do you really think that is enough users to test builds and find the
bugs before release? Become a tester.

There were 143,779 active installations of SeaMonkey on 11/26/2012.

https://metrics.mozilla.com/stats/seamonkey.shtml

But, Walt, Phillip's point still applies, sort of.

Something worked right in SM 2.10, the text menu's all worked correctly,
so something has happened in the development process which may or may
not have fixed something else, but has, according to Richard, broken
something in the font displaying with-in SM 2.14.

Seems to happen reasonably often with what I expect is a very complex
task in producing this Suite thing!!

So, Walt, you'll be happy to know that I will start testing/using the
Beta versions instead of installing SM 2.14, for what good it might
domy usage is very restricted!

OK, I'm not talking about the preferences window, which is as you
describe. Close that and you should get the regular mail window.
Depending on your options, you may see some or all of these:

• list of account names and folders (probably on the left);
• list of messages within the currently selected folder (probably at top
right);

• content of message currently selected (probably at bottom right)

The folder you're looking for is Unsent Messages, and it should be in
your default account. There usually isn't a separate one for each account.

There's also a Drafts folder for each account, but those messages are
not queued for sending, so SM will not prompt you to send them. Only
those in the Unsent Messages folder will elicit the prompt.

Not our fault, not our problem. Caused by recent versions of Adobe's

I don't understand the risks of the workaround, and I've had no response

You also have the option of downgrading to an earlier version of Flash

LMH, it seems to me that whilst you have any part of SeaMonkey open,
then a session cookie should still be in force...but, then again, as
cookies only apply in the browser (I think), maybe a session is only
whilst the browser is open!!

If you are accepting a cookie for a session only, what can you use
every time?? The next time you go there, there is nothing to use!!

The use every time check box refers to the cookie permission rule
and not to the cookie itself.

When you have cookie expiration set to ask for each cookie, a prompt
box appears every time a site tries to set a cookie. There are three
buttons to choose from.

1. allow
2. allow for session
3. block

There is also a check box use my choice for all cookies from this site

If you check the use my choice for all cookies from this site check
box, a rule is created in the data manager under the domain that
attempted to set the cookie. If you select allow and use for all,
you will never get asked again. Every time you go to that site, the rule
is applied instead of prompting you for what to do. If you look in your
cookie manager, you will find hundreds of rules for domains. Most of
these are set to block a site from setting cookies.

It is these rules that seem to be Disappearing. If I close SM and open
it again, when I open my browser I find no cookie rule for the google
domain what so ever. There is a never save passwords rule, but nothing
for cookies. If I go to google and select allow for session and use
for all, there will be an entry in the cookie manager showing this
rule. If I close SM and open again, the rule is gone and I have to
manually set the cookie permissions for google again.

This is absolutely new behavior. I have been using SM since it was
mozilla, and ever since session cookies were introduced, I have been
doing things more or less the same way.

Even if I manually add a rule in the data manager, it is not there after
I close and reopen SM. It is the cookies that expire at the end of the
session, not the rules you create for cookie permissions.

Is it possible to adjust the width of the sidebar's vertical
scrollbar
using CSS? If so does anyone know the proper code?

There's no clean way that I'm aware for the SM default theme
since it
uses system scrollbars but this should work for any themes that
style
their own scrollbars like Modern or a number of others:

scrollbarbutton {
   width: 10px;
   height: 10px;
   max-width: 10px;
   max-height: 10px;
   background-size: contain;
}

thumb {
   background-size: contain;
}

Note: You can change width/height to your liking and it only works
cleanly with CSS3 versions of SM.

Thanks much! I'll try this tomorrow after some sleep and an eye
doctor
exam tomorrow ... once the drops wear off and I can see again.

Awesome!  Thanks so much.

One odd thing:

http://edmullen.net/temp/cap_scroll.jpg

Notice the area under the scrollbar. It should be all gray but only
the original default width is gray - the area to its right is white.
I poked around with the DOM Inspector but couldn't figure out
anything.

Hmm, using the values I detailed above, here's what I'm seeing:

http://projectit.com/multimedia/image/gif/sidebar.gif

Are you using the SM Modern theme?

Yes, Modern theme. But! My original query arose from my annoyance
that the sidebar default scrollbar is too narrow ... narrower than the
main window's. And too small for my liking. Here are my parameters
based on your input ...

scrollbarbutton {
width: 15px;
height: 10px;
max-width: 20px;
max-height: 10px;
background-size: contain;
}

So, enlarging the width to 15px solved my main complaint. The sidebar
scrollbar is now (apparently) the same width as the main window's.

But, something in that CSS isn't altering the underlying background
... or something. The DOM Inspector is, to me, highly impenetrable
God bless you if you can figure it out.

ah, for that, this should work:

scrollbarbutton {

I have Nightly Tester Tools installed in my SeaMonkey 214, which has a
Force Addon Compatibility menu item.

Or you can try downloading the .xpi file, open in Winzip or such, open
the install.rdf file, change the max version number, save the file.
Winzip will prompt if you kwant to update the zip/xpi file: Say yes.
Find the .xpi file where you put it, drag it and drop it into a browser
window to install.

Is it possible to adjust the width of the sidebar's vertical
scrollbar
using CSS? If so does anyone know the proper code?

There's no clean way that I'm aware for the SM default theme
since it
uses system scrollbars but this should work for any themes that
style
their own scrollbars like Modern or a number of others:

scrollbarbutton {
   width: 10px;
   height: 10px;
   max-width: 10px;
   max-height: 10px;
   background-size: contain;
}

thumb {
   background-size: contain;
}

Note: You can change width/height to your liking and it only works
cleanly with CSS3 versions of SM.

Thanks much! I'll try this tomorrow after some sleep and an eye
doctor
exam tomorrow ... once the drops wear off and I can see again.

Awesome!  Thanks so much.

One odd thing:

http://edmullen.net/temp/cap_scroll.jpg

Notice the area under the scrollbar. It should be all gray but only
the original default width is gray - the area to its right is white.
I poked around with the DOM Inspector but couldn't figure out
anything.

Hmm, using the values I detailed above, here's what I'm seeing:

http://projectit.com/multimedia/image/gif/sidebar.gif

Are you using the SM Modern theme?

Yes, Modern theme. But! My original query arose from my annoyance
that the sidebar default scrollbar is too narrow ... narrower than the
main window's. And too small for my liking. Here are my parameters
based on your input ...

scrollbarbutton {
width: 15px;
height: 10px;
max-width: 20px;
max-height: 10px;
background-size: contain;
}

So, enlarging the width to 15px solved my main complaint. The sidebar
scrollbar is now (apparently) the same width as the main window's.

But, something in that CSS isn't altering the underlying background
... or something. The DOM Inspector is, to me, highly impenetrable
God bless you if you can figure it out.

ah, for that, this should work:

scrollbarbutton {
width: 15px;
height: 10px;
max-width: 20px;
max-height: 10px;
background-size: contain;
}

slider {
background-size: contain;
}

thumb {
background-size: contain;
}

That RAWKS!

Awesome!  Thanks again!

Cheers!

As an aside, if you ever want to change the size of the content window
scrollbars, you'll need to add the above styles to your userContent.css
file.

I cannot find the drafts folder, nor the sent folder, nor any of the

nothing indicating specific folders.

Double-click the account name, or else click the triangle to the left of

If you don't see a list of account names on the left, look at the very

There is no speckled border.

I know there is a draft there because I put one there and everytime I
open the mail it will ask if I want to send unsent messages and I have
to click on no.

OK, I'm not talking about the preferences window, which is as you
describe. Close that and you should get the regular mail window.
Depending on your options, you may see some or all of these:

• list of account names and folders (probably on the left);
• list of messages within the currently selected folder (probably at top
right);
• content of message currently selected (probably at bottom right)

The folder you're looking for is Unsent Messages, and it should be in
your default account. There usually isn't a separate one for each account.

There's also a Drafts folder for each account, but those messages are
not queued for sending, so SM will not prompt you to send them. Only
those in the Unsent Messages folder will elicit the prompt.

Paul,
I have a vague memory of what you have described, i.e. several segments
on the screen with list of account names, folders for sent, unsent
messages, drafts, etc. My screen does not have those. I suspect I have
(somewhere) changed how email displays to the screen and it displays :
send,address,attach,spell,security,save,from,sender,subject, then
message text.

I do see the speckled line on the left on the above and I see what
clicking there eliminates and replaces the entries above.

I am using Seamonkey for browser and email if that information helps
any. I appreciate your help. Please stay with me a little longer on this.

the correct header. On this newsgroup I get a full quote of the message

This is actually not a per-group setting, but a per-server setting.

Go to Mail Newsgroups Account Settings, locate the account for the
newsserver you want to modify, go to the Composition Addressing
subfolder. Tweak the settings there to your heart's delight.

[Linux] Disk space msg limit causes missing email

2012-11-28 Thread NoOp
SM 2.14 linux (32bit  64bit). I cannot reproduce on SM 2.14 Windows.

I have a POP3 account that I had set the download limit to 1024KB:
Edit|Mail  Newsgroups...|account|Disk Space|To save disk
space...|Messages larger than 1024KB
and one message today is 1.1MB. So I click on the message and get the
the standard 'msg is truncated, click to download the rest', I do so and
SM2.14 downloads the rest of the message. Unfortunately, unlike in
earlier versions, once I've downloaded the remainder of the message, the
msg is blank basically doesn't exist.

I tested this across 3 different linux systems (32 and 64bit) and the
result was the same. The only way that I recovered (as I knew the
message was still on the POP3 server) was to shut down SeaMonkey, delete
the corresponding folder .msf and popstate.dat file, reset the 'Messages
larger than 1024KB' to Messages larger than 2024KB' and then right click
on the account select 'Get Messages for account' to get the message.

So, after all of that; can anyone else reproduce? If so then I can
submit a bug report w/verification.

Same here.

I do so and SM2.14 downloads the rest of the message.

Same here.

The message was downloaded completely and was readable. After 'Save

All is fine here. No need to bother with a bug report. :)

Re: Adding an Address to the Address Book

2012-11-28 Thread Hartmut Figge
Mister Moose:

What has happened to the Add Sender to Address Book option in
SeaMonkey? It has simply disappeared from the menu options when I
right-click on an email header.

Right-clicking on a 'From: ' header in the header pane shows still the
option 'Add To Address Book...' on my SM 2.17a1.

Why was it removed? I used this feature often!

If the 'From: ' is your own name, then you have the option 'Edit
Contact...' instead of the above mentioned option. Practical, IMHO.
