This is what i read :
Test Subject line containing 66 characters plus a space --
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I found what is the problem with SM ...
I have learn that the space at the end of the line must be removed.
BUT SM remove the CRLF instead of removing the space.

Just to be sure we are on the same page for your desktop:

Click Window, Mail Newsgroups, Edit, Mail Newsgroups Account
Settings..., Add Account

You should now see the screen New Account Setup. On that screen the
third item is used to set up a Newsgroup Account. Do you get that far
on your desktop?
account (4th selection on mine!)

Whoops!! You only see that New Account Setup for a new profile. Let me
sleep on this.

Happy to wait for a solution that works.

How about if you select *Edit* -Mail Newsgroup Account Settings and
select Add Account on the left panel. Do you get the chance to add a
Newsgroup account (4th selection for me) there??

That was me; said it twice. I also said that many/most of the Microsoft
groups are still available on other servers, such as Eternal-September,
but are no longer related to MS in any way. Go here and request an
account. E-S will email you a password. Server settings are shown here as
well.

Once you sign up, get the complete list of groups, and search for

Sounds like you have managed to get one of those nasty drive-by installs
that has put an ad-bot on your computer. Check for malware, and take a

This is why when I buy a computer I insist on a Windows install disk.
And the first thing I do when I get the PC home is re-format the hard
drive and re-install a clean Windows. Yeah, I know, not for the
faint-of-heart. Still. I don't want all that crap manufacturers put on
PCs. Got no use for any of it.

Nope as stated before, on this computer Win 7 Pro. latest Seamonkey, I
do not get that option no matter what method is used to open a new
account. I only get the mail setup wizard and entering anything in that
dialogue box wipes out my current Mozilla group. So I repeat my
question, is there a about:config entry that is screwed up? I have no
problem setting up on my laptop or my other desktop. All with Win 7 Pro.
and latest Seamonkey.
