prints what it feels like, and misses a lot of printing. All these pages

I just tried SM, FF, IE.11 and several online print sites.
None of them was able to print that website as the browser sees it.

By scaling to 60%, I was able to get the primary text all on one page,
page #2. I then "printed" the page via doPDF to a PDF file with
exceptionally high resolution (2400 dpi). Opening the PDF file in Adobe
Reader, I was able to read it if I expanded it to 150%.

I might experiment with the recipe I wanted from the BBC.

This is a result of the way the Web page was formatted. I see this
occasionally with other Web pages. Recently, I tried printing a recipe
from the BBC Web site. Only the first two pages would print, but the
actual recipe continued onto pages 3-4. (The first page was background
on the recipe.) Sometimes, disabiling JavaScript helps, but it neither
helps with the BBC recipe nor with your hummingbird page.

Note that your hummingbird page has 4 HTML errors and 1 CSS error.
Perhaps, if you downloaded the HTML and its subsidiary files and then
corrected those 5 errors, the page might print.

Firefox should support it too but as usual it is google and so works better
with Chrome. I am using Edge Chromium for such sites. github recently also
regressed this and is on the train to a "better" web for a minority (or the
majority which does not care about browsers and privacy).

Have you tried restarting SeaMonkey with addons disabled (aka "safe

There's no need to make any of the changes permanent yet.

I don't know if it's possible, but maybe some extension is triggering a
second password prompt before you've had a chance to respond to the
first one. But once you've responded to the first one, the database is
unlocked so it doesn't actually matter whether you enter the password
the second time.

Thanks for the suggestion. But unfortunately it makes it worse. In add-ins
disabled mode I have to enter the pw definitively two times. When I pres just
ok the second time it prompts again for the pw and does not open seamonkey
before I enter the pw again.
Since it works fine before 2.53.1 it seems to be a bug.
