Right-click choose Properties - Change Icon button. Select an icon.

On the active icon there's no such option.

The strange thing is I start Seamonkey normal, and it opens with my
normal browser homepage.
Right-clicking on the icon in the task bar, somehow shows Seamonkey
Mail
as the top of the 3 items listed in the bottom (Seamonkey Mail, pin to
task bar, close all windows).
So somehow starting normal with browser, opening the browser...
Seamonkey thinks I'm in Seamonkey Mail.

Mark

Oops. Sorry, I was reading too fast. I was thinking of the icon in the
Quick Launch toolbar.

If you go to Edit - Preferences - Appearance what is checked under
When
SeaMonkey starts up, open?

Browser is selected at that option.

If only Browser is checked the only other way I can think that a mail
window is opening is a shortcut in:

C:\Users\[user name]AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup

Also, in about:config you should check that general.startup.mail is set
to false.

In about.config all was set as normal and as expected, only browser was
set to true.

Seamonkey was not found in my startup folder, but in the programs
folder, I now removed the shortcut to mail (leaving normal browser,
profile manager and safe mode shortcuts in tact).
Restarting SeaMonkey... shows my beloved seamonkey icon again.
Very strange phenomenon, but all seems back to normal I guess.

Thanks for thinking along.

Mark

One more addition.
If I put the shortcut back in that directory (restore back form the
trashcan), the same problem reoccurs, starting basic seamonkey (browser)
shows the wrong icon of mail/news

In the SeaMonkey root -- the folder where SeaMonkey itself is installed,
not a profile folder -- find the folder named chrome. Navigate down:
[chrome icons default]. On the folder's menu bar, select [View
Large Icons]. There should be an .ico file named main-window.ico.

Is that icon what you expect? Its image might appear smaller than some
of the others, but that is not important.

Yes,
That's exactly the one I expect, the normal SeaMonkey logo.
But it shows the messengerWindow.ico

Mark, I have my Win7 SeaMonkey set up to open Mail and Chatzilla
(Edit-Preferences-Appearance ... When SeaMonkey starts up, open) and
that is what starts up for me when I click the desktop icon.

That's not the problem.

Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when using Sync
Added support for text-overflow: ellipsis

Installed as easy as always.

One issue I find with the installer on Windows.
The popup warning me about the program to be installed states (something

And if my memory doesn't fail me, Firefox states more like:

Yes, with the recent hotmail/live update they sniff wrongly, and

They should sniff for functionality and not for browser-names.

I know you don't want to tell bad guys anything useful, but having zero
information on fixes is an invitation to to wait and see what (if
anything) is fixed.

Note: clicking on the link above gives a page Seamonkey 2.0.6 which
has a link called What's New in SeaMonkey 2.0.6 which gets to a
section headed What's New in SeaMonkey 2.0.6 which has a link called
Security Fixes which comes to a page called Security Advisories for
SeaMonkey 2.0 which has *absolutely zero* on fixes in 2.0.6.

So after putting the payload at the end of a whole series of links,
there is no payload. This security release fixes nothing, or all
previous versions have a hole so big and easy to use that just to name
it would compromise my system. Only the bad guys are so secretive, so
give us some information to justify another upgrade to management. I
would like to say all these fixes because SM is on top of stuff before
someone says back to FF, SM just can't get it right.

The team is great technically, but dropped the ball on information,
particularly if the problems are only in one OS or another.

And the specific security updates can be found here:

http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/seamonkey20.html#seamonkey2.0.6

that page is usually updated a little bit later...
(thought because of different maintainer)
