Good lord. In all the years I have been using XP (and its
predecessors) I have never once thought to look in Set
Program Access and Defaults. You have finally explained
to me why not everything can launch Seamonkey as an e-mail
client ! What other goodies lurk in there, Ralph, of which
we lesser mortals should be aware ?

I know my Seamonkey is set as default as I can open IE and click on a
mailto link and it will bring up my Seamonkey email. Thanks for any
help.

So what happens when you follow the directions?

H. To Email:

1. Introduction:
a. This option will sends the image to your email program if that
program is supported by the Windows Mailto: command

It brings up the Microsoft Exchange Wizzard

b. If the email program that you use is not supported by the Windows
Mailto: command, you will need to first save the captured image and
then

attach it to, or insert it into, a message

That is why I am asking if anyone has ever used it with SeaMonkey

2. If you want you would like annotations on the image that was
captured, you can open FastStone Draw after the Email window opens and
before you send the message by clicking on the Draw button in the Email
window.

I have done that and then hit email and it again brings up the Microsoft
Exchange Wizzard

3. When the To Email Output option is in effect, each time you do a
capture the Email dialog box will appear
4. If you are satisfied with the image that appears in the Email dialog
box, click on the Send Email button and your default email program will
open and the captured image will be attached

But it does not and I have sent an email to FastStone and asked it
suypports Seamonkey or Mozilla but have received no reply and so I ask
if anyone has had it work with Seamonkey and if not I will not pursue it
further.

I installed the 30 day trial version of FastStone Capture, and after
installing SeaMonkey 2.6.1, configuring my system to use it as my
default mail client, and testing FastStone Capture, it opened
SeaMonkey mail.

Someone with more knowledge of Windows will have to help you out as to
why it wants to open Microsoft Exchange Wizard, and what you need to
do to change that behavior.

Thanks for the reply and also for checking by installing the trial version.

You will need to re-set SeaMonkey as the default mail client again.

1. In SeaMonkey, go to Edit - Preferences - Mail Newsgroups and,
under Make SeaMonkey the default application for: click Mail.

2. In your WinXP, go to Start Set Program Access and Defaults,
expand Custom, and in Choose a default email program
select SeaMonkey.

EXPLANATION

To be the default email program in Windows, means two separate things:
  A.  To be the default program for launching mailto: links;
  B. To be the program that provides MAPI services.

FastStone uses MAPI, not mailto:, to send screen captures.

It appears you currently have only mailto: associated to SeaMonkey.

Thanks, I have done that several times and every time I go back to Set
Program Access and Defaults-Custom and set Seamonkey as email to be used
in reverts back to use my current email program. Thanks for the reply
and I will keep working on it.
