change them using the Windows File Type UI than going directly
through the registry.


Exactly. Unexperienced people tend to destroy things there and as there 
is a clicky-clicky solution build-in, why not use it before finding 
akward keys stored in the deep waters of the registry...
(yeah I know, it's not that deep in this case, but life can be easier 
here ;-))

I think Martin was just suggesting that it would be easier to

This may not be true for everyone, however.

Is SeaMonkey set as your default browser?

If so, double click on the local html file to open the page in the 
browser open the page in the browser, from which you can go File>>Edit 
Page to open Composer.  Its an estra step, but maybe just as easy as 
right click>>edit.

I would like Windows XP sp3 to know to use composer for the job.

After installing SM2.0._ Word takes over!  SM1 used to do this just fine.
