I'm running Xubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit
gtk3 is installed

Any ideas?

I have found a solution

$ echo -e "deb http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/ubuntuzilla/mozilla/apt all
main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list > /dev/null

$ sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com C1289A29

$ sudo apt-get update

$ sudo apt-get install seamonkey-mozilla-build

reinstalled libgtk-3 just to be sure links updated
2.49.3 now works

attached
libgtk-3.so.0

Is this your first attempt to use SeaMonkey? Where did you get it from,
mozilla.org? Is it the 64 bit version? 14.04 didn't ship with GTK3 originally,
so you may need to install a newer version from backports. That error message is
a common one in web searches. Maybe
<http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=40=3005417> applies to you.

I downloaded from Mozilla.
I've used Seamonkey for many years, since it can out
I have just tried Ubuntuzilla package
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ubuntuzilla/
seamonkey-mozilla-build_2.49.2-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
but it creates the following errors.
Breaks existing package 'hunspell-en-ca that conflict: 'iceweasel' ...

Note I must use firefox-esr

Debian called Seamonkey "Iceweasel" for a while.
Was there any reason you did not follow my suggestions from 30 April?

Fedora has /seamonkey/ but version 2.33.1

On this system, that is a symbolic link to libgtk-3.so.0.2000.10 (under
usr/lib64). That file belongs to libgtk-3-0.

What I'd do is
1 - make sure that package is installed
2 - check that the target (or an equivalent) is installed
3 - if everything else is ok, add the symbolic link yourself. Obviously
you have to be su or root.
