I think it's also fair to say that lots *can't* happen.  We can't keep
supplying our energy using 86% fossil fuels or we won't be here in 2100.
We likely can't keep increasing population until 2050 or we won't be here
in 2100.

Articles like this just make me scratch my head and wonder when (other than
1972 ) someone is going
to take seriously the fact that every year our projections of the
worst-case scenarios for our planet are superseded by newer, worst-er cases.
