[biofuel] Azeotropic ditillation

2002-02-12 Thread Thomsons

Can anyone give sond tchnical data as to why azeotropic ditillation is no
longer used comercially? Will the use of molecular sieves be overtaken by
pervaporation with membranes to produce 200 proof ethanol?

[biofuels-biz] Ethanol Distillation

2002-02-11 Thread Thomsons

Which is the better process route to achieve dehydrated ethanol from fermented
broth? Extractive distillation? Azeotropic distillation with an entrainer?
Molecular sieves? Prevapoation with membranes? All seem viable but what are the
financial benefits for selecting each route?
