True. I always get a laugh when people use the term hign octane when
they mean high powered.

There was a computer company that even went so far as to name a product
Octane. They are pretty much out of business now.

actually it stops predetonation(going off too early) in high compression
gasoline engines which can damage the engine.

[Biofuel] Word Play

2006-10-19 Thread Mike Weaver
Original miles and miles are the same. A '57 Chevy with 60k miles and
60k original miles are identical.

From what I've teased out, it dates back to when odometers stopped at
100k. The titles would have a space where you could state that the
miles showing on the
odometer were not the actual miles, and that the true mileage was in
excess of the car's ability to record. You could have a car w/ 150,000
original miles.

Now, for my next trick, what does high octane gas do for your 1997
Honda Civic?

Maybe we could say...it runs goodly? As far as original miles and
miles are concerned, a '57 Chevy with 60K miles would make me wonder
if those were on a motor that replaced the old motor. So, telling me
original, supposedly tells me it's the original motor, which, still
says nothing about whether or not it runs goodly. Nonetheless, if the
body was without rust and the interior had been kept up etc etc, it
might be a good buy for some reeltor to help hone her marketing
