 Amazing that Activision bothered to reproduce the parchment at all, when
 you remember how bad the pdf files were that came with the Masterpieces.

 This is all very interesting, but do I take it since no one's answered
 my question, I'm not missing anything and should be thankful to have
 the ZZ parchment reproduction?

Sorry, Lee, it seems we got carried away a little.

Yes, as Chris said, your copy should be complete.

 No, it wasn't. The original parchment in ZZ looked like an actual scrap of
 paper, with uneven edges, etc, plus the printing was in color. The LTOI
 version was like a Slash reproduction on white paper.

 I can't say for sure which packages have the parchment and which don't. It
 seems to be about half and half.

That of course shatters my theory.

RE: [SWCollect] Lost Treasures of Infocom inventory

2003-08-25 Thread Stuart Feldhamer
What's the deal with the parchment? My copy, the CD-ROM version, bought off
the shelf when it came out, never came with the parchment, and I remember
going back and forth with Activision about it for over a year(!) via email
before I finally found out that it wasn't just my copy and that the text of
the parchment was on the IF-Archive. (Activision proved too stupid to ever
be able to send me a replacement parchment.) Now I see through this post and
Chris's update yesterday that some copies did indeed have a parchment...
anyone know which ones did and which ones didn't?

I found a copy of Lost Treasures of Infocom at a thrift store for $3.
Needless to say, since my Infocom collection is quite small and mostly
my originals for the Apple II, I'm quite happy. The only downside is
the price was written with permanent marker. But it was also 20% off.

Everything appears to be there, but can someone tell me if I'm missing
anything?  It has:

   * five (of five) 3.5 disks (untested as of right now)
   * manual
   * hint book
   * Zork Zero Parchment
   * 19 maps
   * Leather Goddesses of Phobos order card
 (There's no expiration date on it, maybe I should send it in! 8)
   * registration card
   * Attn:  DOS USERS card
   * Reference card
   * 1993 Activision Catalog
 (I can't believe they didn't release River Raid and Kaboom! for
 the Super Nintendo! There's screenshots and everything!)
   * Oh, and the box, of course.
