[Swftools-common] magazine viewer
Hi Jeff, To use FreepapeR 2, you first need to convert a pdf file to a swf file using pdf2swf. There's 2 manners to achieve this goal : a) convert your pdf file manually (command line or using the swftools GUI). After you get the swf version of your pdf document, you can use FreepapeR to view it. b) use FreepapeR ability (using php exec) to run pdf2swf with the right parameters. The generated document is then automaticaly opened in your web page. Just download the zip file, http://lededansdubocal.net/IMG/zip/freepaper2.0.9.0-20100417.zip. Extract the archive under your document root. You will find the 2 described cases (a and b) : a - sample using the manually converted version of the document. There's no use of php. b - sample using php : just give the path of your pdf document (in index.html), the tools will first convert to a swf document, the display it in FreepapeR. The FreeapeR interface (buttons, colors ...) and language can be set using XML files. FreepapeR is build using Flashdevelop anf Flex 4 SDK (Actionscript 3) and is open source (source available on request). The SPIP plugin is a plugin written to use FreepapeR with SPIP (a Content Management System) If somebody find it useful, I could translate the FreepapeR doc in english. Regards Nul en foot ? [Swftools-common] magazine viewer
Does anybody have (or know how to setup) a viewer for pdf2swf that would display like a magazine? By this I mean that it would show the page 1 (front cover) by itself, but then would show page 2 3 side by side, then page 4 5 side by side, etc, then show the last page (back cover) by itself? Thanks P.S.- This is a great little tool!

jeff, Since this post was directed at several people, I think your intention was for it to go to the list, not just to myself! ;o) I've taken the liberty of forwarding it. I know a little about Flash CS3, but nothing about Flex, so I think Flexbook is over my head, although there are some other apps out there that look very similar to Flexbook, and probably are using the same code. Thanks @Mark ... I did try google, and that is what evetually lead me pdf2swf, which does everything I need it to do, except display two pages side by side, so just wanted to see if there were other viewers that could be plugged right in and work out of the box so to speak without much modification. My initial search turned up this www.FlashPageFlip.com , which has a free version, but it was lacking zoom in/out features although there is a paid version that has those features. Thanks @Franck ... FreepapeR looks interesting, but my French is not very good. Is it free/open-source? I cannot tell if it's an add-on for pdf2swf or if it is just saying that it actually uses pdf2swf! Any help in translating would be appreciated! I see 2 versions: Le plugin SPIP and Le lecteur.. Can you explain what each one is for? Thanks @Mike ... I am going to download Calibre and see if does what we want. It looks like a good little program as well! And if you can find that code, definitely post it! Thanks Thanks everybody for your posts!
