Hallo Klaus

Sind da etwa Hosts aus dem Bereich 2001:918:::/48 dabei? Falls ja, wäre ich
froh um eine Liste (PM), um das untersuchen zu können.

You should be able to test this at next year's conference, yes :-) And
commercial launch is also likely to happen next year, if practice adheres to
theory (which it does, in theory). It would hopefully be a strong sign to
content providers.

Thanks for the update. Do you have a timeline for that already?

(Maybe we can test and enjoy this next year at the conference?)

This is good :-) - but not very visible on the outside, so content providers
can still lean back and defer their IPv6 implementation, pointing to the mobile
operators "see, even if we did v6, nobody would use it..."

Hi Gert

Swisscom does not offer IPv6 for internet access yet, and as far as I know none
of the competitors in CH do that either. We've tested T-Mobile US' approach
with 464XLAT. Works well for those handsets that support it. We're focusing on
a new approach that would make use of IPv6 for all handsets and that will look
like dual-stack to the handsets.

Voice over LTE has been using an IPv6-only APN since its launch last year.

Cheers

Hi,

preparing myself for the panel discussion on Silvia's IPv6 conference next
week, I wonder if there are any mobile providers in Switzerland that are
offering IPv6 connectivity today - and if yes, which flavor (single-stack IPv6
with NAT64/DNS64 like TMO USA, or dual-stack v4+v6 with v4 CGN like T-Mobile
DE), and whether it's default-on for anything yet...

thanks :-)

Re: [swinog] Swisscom Webserver via IPv6 down?

2014-08-22 Diskussionsfäden Martin.Gysi
Hi Jean Pierre

It was never activated by default on the business CPEs and everyone doing to
needed to do it on purpose by entering the 6rd details. So hopefully those
people had a firewall concept - but you never know.
What makes me the most angry is that they switched it off without prenotice
and there is no information about it anywhere, neither on the labs-page nor
 in the partner portal.

In fact, the 6rd solution was only implemented for residential customers, but
was never thought to be used for SME products. It only worked by chance, as the
Border Relays were reachable also from SME IP-ranges. We recently had to scale
up the border relays, due to increased traffic (6rd works extremely well and is
highly performant, it is about to be enabled for all residential customers by
default). At the same time the Border Relays were placed at a different
location in our network. This means that they are no longer reachable from the
IP ranges of the SME customers. Hence the interruption, I'm sorry it cannot be
made to work easily.

Either I have to switch to a SC wholeseller who offers native v6 or I shall
be activating a few tunnels for those customers who are now deprived of 6rd.
And I though Martin told us at a swinog event that 6rd was a permanent
 decision for SC's pppoe customers.

Again, IPv6 was never officially supported for SME products. An official
PPPoE-based solution is being worked on, so I hope you activate a few tunnels
in the meantime and we won't lose you as a customer.

Best regards,
Martin

 - Open Source tools
 - International view of the internet (incidents, outages, measurements)
 - Routing
 - Server applications (DNS, Web, etc.)

To submit a proposal for a presentation, we request that you provide the
following information to swinog-core at swinog.ch:

 * the name of the presenter (and if applicable your affiliation)
 * a working email address
 * the name and number of the topic which will contain the presentation
 * the title of the presentation

[swinog] New IP address for Swisscom 6rd Border Relay

2013-04-11 Diskussionsfäden Martin.Gysi
Dear all

Please note that Swisscom has activated a new 6rd Border Relay (for IPv6...)
that has a new IP address. Please adapt your Linux/Cisco/m0n0wall etc. setups,
as the old BR will be turned off in a couple of weeks.

New IP: 193.5.29.1 (6rd.swisscom.com)

Re: [swinog] IPv6 pilot testers wanted

2011-10-25 Diskussionsfäden Martin.Gysi
Hi Jerome

DHCPv6 will not be available until (guess mode on) about 2015. The internal
architecture of our network does not currently permit native IPv6. That is why
we use 6rd to deploy IPv6. However, 6rd is a very scalable and easy-to-deploy
technology, that can also be used independently by wholesale ISP partners. I
know of one small ISP that uses 6rd today. So for native IPv6, the choice is
today limited to PPP, Ethernet/DHCP must use 6rd (6rd may also be used with
PPP, that's how we do it).

If you're interested in 6rd, you'll have to figure out how to configure the
CPEs with the required parameters. We use TR-69, as we already have such a
device management system in place. Another option is static configuration or
the use of a DHCP (v4) option. That DHCP option is not currently supported by
our DHCP servers, but you were to ask for such a feature, that should be easy
to add.

And yes, I'm aware of that small non-german speaking part of Switzerland ;-), I
lived and studied in Lausanne for 5 years… But as this is just a small-scale
pilot, we cannot go through the efforts to translate everything. Service launch
is imminent, and that will be available in all languages of course.

Best regards,
Martin

 Dear all

Following up on my presentation on Swisscom's IPv6 plans, I can finally
announce that we are ready for a public pilot of IPv6 on DSL for residential
Internet access (formerly known as bluewin). The swinog community is
happily invited, should there be Swisscom customers amongst them :-)

Please note that you'll need a router of the latest generation (centro
grande or centro piccolo) to participate -- the ones with the rounded
 casing without external WLAN antenna.

You can register for the pilot at http://ipv6test.questionpro.com. We'll
then upgrade your DSL router to the IPv6-capable firmware. After the
firmware upgrade, you may enable (and disable) IPv6 on the customer web
 portal : https://sam.sso.bluewin.ch/my/data/ModemMgmtService?mode=overview

 Happy testing!
