[swinog] OT: Swiss SuperMicro hardware suppliers
Hi, Sorry for the OT post, but my existing supplier and Google searches have not turned up much. I'm looking for a hardware supplier in Switzerland, pref Zurich area that sells SuperMicro blades (DataCenterBlades) I have checked out the SM site but resellers listed are an ISP and company in Germany meaning import duties, etc. Anyone have some other contacts? Replies off-list would be better please. Thanks for you help. Best regards, Andy Ashley. ___ swinog mailing list swinog@lists.swinog.ch http://lists.swinog.ch/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog

[swinog] OT: Problem with kernel-level pppoe
Hi guys I use pppoe on my openbsd based router some time now, but always using user space ppp. I read on several posts / blogs / etc. that kernel-level pppoe (pppoe(4)) would have better performance and I decided to bring up a test device. My config (OpenBSD 4.6): /etc/hostname.pppoe0 inet 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 NONE \ pppoedev vr0 authproto chap \ authname 'user' authkey 'pass' up dest 0.0.0.1 /sbin/route add default 0.0.0.1 And additionally in pf.conf: match on pppoe0 scrub (max-mss 1440) And finally in sysctl.conf: net.inet.tcp.mssdflt=1440 The connection establish and icmp does work, but with udp pings I got duplicate answers and tcp does not work at all. Short: the connection is not usable. On the same device using userspace ppp: /etc/ppp/ppp.conf default: set log Phase Chat LCP IPCP CCP tun command pppoe: set device !/usr/sbin/pppoe -i vr0 set mtu max 1492 set mru max 1492 set speed sync disable acfcomp protocomp deny acfcomp set authname user set authkey pass set dial set login add default HISADDR Everything works ok. Did I miss anything here? Any help would be appreciated! Regards André ___ swinog mailing list swinog@lists.swinog.ch http://lists.swinog.ch/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog

Re: [swinog] OT: network connection 500 - 1000m
You may place a wireless repeater to some high enough point where both locations are visible... - Original Message From: Daniel Kamm y...@ylz.ch I have an off-topic network problem, but some ppl here might help me. I need to build an IP network line from the middle of a construction site to an internet connection place for a one-time event. The distance is around 500 - 1000m. No line of sight and therefore directed WLAN will not work without several relays. At the moment I'm thinking of using a copper line and some old fashioned 1MBit lease line modems. Do you have other ideas of getting this to work or may have any parts which you can lend? The event will happen at the end of July on a single week day. Thank you for your help. ___ swinog mailing list swinog@lists.swinog.ch http://lists.swinog.ch/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog

Sounds easier and cheaper to me... especially for a single day !
