Re: [swinog] Autoresponder
Hi OK, its requires skills and of course some technical magic to configure something as complex as a mailclient correctly. But for all those who are unwilling or unable to fullfill this job on their own there *is* in fact a solution to this problem. It is (astoundingly enough) possible to use more than one email account for exchangeing electronic mail. You don't need multiple mail accounts. There is Precedence: {bulk|list} for a reason. Have a look into your wiki (or procmailex(5) for everyone else), there's an autoresponder which does not reply to properly configured mailing lists. So I dare to kindly ask those unable to go without something evil like an *autoresponder* to switch their mailinglist subscriptions to another address where they do not need to inform the senders about their holidays? No man, that's part of the idea. That way you always know, who's on holiday, just in case you have a problem with their network or some such! One could automate this by sending a ping-mail once a day and generate a nice website for the everybody. =:-) For those having read this far: Thank you. To all atoresponders: Shut up! Right. Guys, get hold of that computer. Just because its a problem in an upper layer does not mean one can ignore it. (don't miss the ;) despite all wigging) Hihi. CU, Venty P.S. For this I probably shouldn't be ranting arround here. But one thing I keep *wondering* and annoying about is the fact that the swiss networking elite seems not to be able to configure their mailers and mail facilities to correctly and politely interfer with a mailinglist.
