[swinog] Bluewin SMTP proxy?

2004-11-09 Thread Daniel Kamm

Could anyone of Bluewin please make a statement
about some changes in customers SMTP level?

We have many customers which cannot connect to
their mailserver @Hostpoint via ESMTP. I suppose, a transparent SMTP proxy
filters all the Port 25 traffic.

Thank you in advance

Please note that we don't have the same law systems as the USA. In

 they feel like it.

And I think, at least Microsoft Switzerland or a Swiss layer will
contact you if they plan to do anything. Not such US companies...

I was trying it out with some different browsers, the almost antique
Netscape 4.8, which I'm still using failed (I was expecting it to do
this). But a Mozilla 1.2.1 and Mozilla 1.3 failed also. Internet
Explorer 6.0 (with SP1 and all the patches) which I a have on a Win98
failed too. Then I upgraded Mozilla to 1.6 on the Win98, and finaly this
one works. The squid proxy which I also use did not have a problem when
the browsers sends the name with punycode.

I just tested a Mozilla 1.4 on a Linux box at work, this one works too.

Mozilla Firebird 0.7 on Win2k works.

I am still not able to connect mx.hispeed.ch on tcp/25 from
 some of our servers.

any switch or router in our network can connect mx.hispeed.ch,
even the laptop I'am working on connects. just some ip's seem
to get blocked, which sounds to me like blacklisting

Can you tell me what do you plan to tell to your customers?

It seems that swissonline blocked our whole isp-range on port 25, I
cannot connect from any ip to mx.hispeed.ch port smtp.

Let's see what is going on at next...

 Peter

as we only see some of our ip's blocked I guess our
postmaster is re-routing smtp for cablecom domains.

anyone working for cablecom/swissonline on this list??!

[swinog] [OT] How to get rid of UCF?

2003-12-04 Thread Daniel Kamm
Sorry for this off-topic thread...

We have been awoken this night once again from Unsolicited Commercial
Fax-Calls to our phone number. Caller ID is suppressed as always.
Swisscom Störungsannahme dose only propose to refuse anonymous calls
by activating service 99.

We do receive sometimes normal calls with suppressed caller id, so we
cannot activate the refusing-service.

Like the handling with Spam Mails, we don't want to plug-over the
faxmachine to avoid that the system knows, that there _is_ a fax.

Is there any other thing we can do? Is there someone else, having the
same problem?

Thank you...

[swinog] [OT] btw, swisscom

2003-12-02 Thread Daniel Kamm
Try opening http://www.swisscom.com under Linux 2.4.18 (seen with opera
and mozilla) and wonder...

We all now pretty well, that MS dislike the Linux Community, but to ban
Linux users out of MS customers homepages is something else.

I'll better inform them (but how?).

NACK,
that works at ours with Mozilla 1.4a under WinXP.

 Only IE works fine :-(

Also, if ActiveX and scripting support is disabled (which should be
standard configuration)?

Yes it is true. You can follow several posts on www.symlink.ch and
www.cablemodem.ch.

But one look on cnlab AG's Performancetest tells me (sorry, I have
access to it), that they cannot hold this bandwith reliably. I know,
it's best effort, but other providers have better efforts :-)
