[Swlfest] 2024 Is In The Books

2024-05-11 Thread Dennis Dura
Thanks for all the work John and Richard in putting our first in person and
hybrid together since the pandemic.

Also thanks to all the in-person and virtual presenters who make the Fest
what it is.

2025 can't come soon enough to do this all again...well take a rest though
first guys.

Re: [Swlfest] Informal Poll of Past and Future SWL Fest Attendees

2024-01-15 Thread Dennis Dura
People are not reading Question 3 properly. When you say Yes to all you are
saying a price increase (Q3) will affect you from coming, yet the other Yes
answers are counter that. Q5 is only answered if you said No to Q4.

Please people, read the questions and answer properly to help the
FestMasters.

Re: [Swlfest] THE WINTER SWL FEST IS MOVING DATES !!!!!

My comments were not made excluding the hybrid model that should be in the
mix...
very aware overall attendance was up.

How has Post-COVID tempered the Business model you describe if at all? I
would imagine they offer more to get the business. If not then they are not
worthy.

2024-01-13 Thread Dennis Dura
I'll add another 2¢ to what Fred said.

Knowing the Double Tree has had bumps over the years, and it wasn't their
fault there was a Blizzard... it served well.

Plenty of decent eating nearby... Breakfast accomodated SWL Fest groups
forming... You could chat with folks out in the common areas, and your room
was right upstairs if you wanted a break. Radio-Hospitality suite too!

I'd say that a place like, if not exactly that place, would work best for
the diverse attendees we have, that some of the other suggested venues
could not offer.

Dennis

PS: Yes we would come down with the WinterFest crud from time to time post
event too... but that's a function of groups of people together in the
Winter.

We'll see how well this single delivery system will work when
disasters/emergencies occur and/or when governments shut down/block the
Internet in their country.

As someone who has been in the emergency management field for over 40

Re: [Swlfest] RIP Art Arnold, N2CPR

2021-07-10 Thread Dennis Dura
For those that didn't know Art, and hear his stories about Vietnam, know
this...he was Radar O'Reilly there. I never tired of those tales.

Art told me over a meal one time at a Fest... about an HF transceiver in
his car, and something about Pancho...

May he ride forever.

2017-03-04 Thread Dennis Dura
A huge thanks to everyone that worked, organized and presented at the 30th
anniversary event.

For those that didn't attend, you missed some great days in the company of
many that have sent the bar high over the years in our hobby.
