Re: [sword-devel] Code example for Psalm headings
My experience is that diatheke is very reluctant to show headings of any kind even with -o h. When I have gotten it to display headings it only displayed the translator's added headings, not the canonical ones that were taken from the translated texts. I updated my version of sword in the last couple days and I can't get diatheke to display any heading at the moment for whatever reason. Similarly, my own script is able to display headings, but (at least for the ESV), none of the standard filters seem to display the Psalm headings I want (unless I output raw). Cheers. [sword-devel] Suffix 4 for various ModDrv parameters in .conf files?
The required parameters for *ModDrv* specified in https://crosswire.org/wiki/DevTools:conf_Files#Required_Elements do not include these three items: *RawText4*, *zCom4* and *zText4* which are mentioned /only/ in the third column in a subsequent table: https://crosswire.org/wiki/DevTools:conf_Files#General_informatic_and_installer_elements Should not the list of allowed parameters in the first table be extended to include these? cf. *RawCom4* and *RawLD4* are already in the first table. The question is prompted by discovering the updated *RusCARS* module recently sent to the modules mailing list is in fact set to install in ./modules/texts/ztext4//mymodule// and has this line in the .conf file: ModDrv=zText4 As this is the first time that I've encountered 'ztext4' as part of the module path, it set me thinking. Shall I just add the three missing items in the first table? If so, what's the rationale? Is it only for modules having entries greater than 32K bytes? Is it ever likely that a Bible module has such an entry? I suppose this limit might be exceeded for Bibles with very long introductions at either testament or book level. Further thought: If a module that was previously in this path ./modules/texts/ztext//mymodule// is updated by one that is in this path ./modules/texts/ztext4//mymodule// might there be any additional requirements for the *module manager* to perform? Assuming the module name is unchanged, I suppose there may be no mechanism to ensure the the superseded module files are removed. Is this a concern? Re: [sword-devel] Interlinear modules?
Thanks Karl, As would *STEP Bible*, from what I've seen of the screenshots. I've no idea whether the aforementioned interlinear English/Aramaic NT is coded at word level or at verse text level. That we seem to have no feature to support interlinear content at verse text level in a unified module might seem to be an omission from the engine and/or the OSIS schema. Re: [sword-devel] Code example for Psalm headings
Correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK, in diatheke the only way to include the canonical Psalm descriptions in the output is by using the CL option *-o* with the filter *h* for section headings. It's a pity that the way that OSIS encodes these is as a title element, with the distinction vis-a-vis other section headings being the attributes, i.e. ... If a translation also contains non-canonical section headings (e.g. the italicised headings in the NIV that are not intended for oral reading), and these are also present in the Psalms, the drawback is that with this filter, you'll get those as well as the translated Hebrew Psalm descriptions. IMHO, SWORD and related utilities could really do with a new filter that only allows Psalm titles. Is that not too much to ask as an enhancement. [sword-devel] Interlinear modules?
There was some discussion way back in time about this. See https://crosswire.org/wiki/Whiteboard/Virtual_Modules#Interlinear_Virtual_Module Bringing this back to the table is prompted by having been alerted to the existence of Dave Bauscher's Aramaic / English Interlinear NT at http://aramaicnt.com/ Just added this "wish" to our wiki page: https://crosswire.org/wiki/Module_Requests#Aramaic_NT_Translations It seem that we never really came through with a solution to support a genuine interlinear Bible module. i.e. If the copyright owner or translator makes that a requirement for a distribution license. Is it too late to put this back on the wish list for the SWORD engine?
