I would prefer to keep this. Because svg import (as non-editable image)
 might be useful sometimes.

Ok, I added a Any file filter to display all files for all
open/import/save dialogs, so we can still have chance to choose some types
we (I) didn't manage to implement in my code.

 all formats supported by MLT?

It seems not right, not all of formats are supported to be imported as
sound layers. In recently implementation, I coded 3 formats: *.ogg, *.mp3,
 *.wav.

THe range of supported formats is hevily depend on the set of library
linked to FFmpeg. For example, it is possible to have FFmpeg compiled
without some codes. So it's really hard to guess. Sorry for the late reply.

.svg file is not available from import dialog now, only hided at UI level.

I would prefer to keep this. Because svg import (as non-editable image)

Best Regards,

[Synfig-devl] detecting valid file formats

2014-11-11 Thread Yu Chen
Hi,

I am trying to improve File - Import... [1], all unsupported files will be
filtered out so prevent user from some interruptions by popup windows.

- which formats are supported by sound layer at the moment?
- should we still keep svg as a valid format? since user is encouraged to
use the synfig exporter plugin in Inkscape.
- besides .png and .jpeg/jpg, are there any other image formats are valid?
- for synfig documents, sif, sifz and sfg. I notice that sfg is still not
available as a mime type in linux platform.
- shall we use mime types in file format detector? or just simply use file
extension?
