[Tagging] Entrances..
Wouldn't it be great if railway=subway_entrance was rendering, and if we had a generic scheme to tag entrances for different stuff. I've used building=entrance, but I need to tag railway=station_entrance, train=door, highway=bus_station_entrance etc. etc. How do I solve this in a better way? http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:railway%3Dsubway_entrance http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:building=entrance http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Stop_Area When rendering railway=subway_entrance do you think one should disable to rendering of railway=station, and in that case how do you know which subway station to disable. About 1/3 of subway_entrances have names, even fewer have relations, I believe using names has advantages. -- /emj ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging

I've used building=entrance, but I need to tag railway=station_entrance, train=door, highway=bus_station_entrance etc. etc. How do I solve this in a better way? you could use barrier=entrace, but this is according to my reading of the wiki a hole in the barrier without door or gate, that's why I usually use barrier=gate for general entrances (which do have a door/gate). When rendering railway=subway_entrance do you think one should disable to rendering of railway=station -1, depends on the zoom-level , and in that case how do you know which subway station to disable. name? proximity? That would get some false positives (double-stations) About 1/3 of subway_entrances have names, even fewer have relations, I believe using names has advantages. well, but name is for the name of the feature, so it could well happen that a subway entrance has it's own name that is not the one of the station but the one of the street it is leading to. I'd opt for the relation. cheers, Martin ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging
