This one could be interesting in regard of quantity of stored data and
redundancy reduced by the use of relations.
Nevertheless, editors should be improved to let users edit simpler things
than relations for type=node to be usable.

I may recommend Marc marc approach in this proposal, and wait for a wider
support to map sharing-pole distribution points as node relation.
Anyway, it's not specific to telecom distribution points.

It's not applicable here : site relation requires to already have dedicated
and independent features, which we are looking for here.

Document has been slightly updated and RFC is going on

there’s a proposal for a relation type=node which allows for several point
objects with just one geometry object (could be semantically enriched by
mapping the pole with the node, the boxes (type=node relations) could get the
pole as member with an “attached_to”-role).

Should we recommend to put as many nodes as required around the pole or
choose another option?

the easiest way to use the data is to put several nodes in the same
place. the presence of several support=pole should be sufficient if
someone uses the information "all on the same pole".
otherwise there is a relation

Site relation?

or the use of _1 _2 supported by almost nobody

Similar things happen with antennas and signs, possibly other things too.

[Tagging] Several different boxes on the same pole

2019-11-21 Thread François Lacombe
Hi all,

Regarding this proposal for telecom distribution points, currently RFC :
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Telecom_distribution_points

Situations may be found involving several of those boxes on a single pole.
This happen especially when FTTx (optical fibre) networks are rolled out in
parallel of existing older copper ones.
You'll find an old copper box and a more recent fibre one on the same pole
connecting households.

Those two boxes will be hard to describe on the same node, although they
can be located on the same pole.
Should we recommend to put as many nodes as required around the pole or
choose another option?

Let me know if you have ideas
