[Tails-dev] Keyboard shortcuts use QWERTY mapping instead of AZERTY on French keyboard

Re: [Tails-dev] Release schedule for Tails 0.22
Hi, TL;DR: no change to the 0.22 release schedule *but* a bonus 0.22.1 might be released early next week. intrigeri wrote (24 Sep 2013 17:51:54 GMT) : 2013-12-09 package new Firefox ESR 2013-12-09 build and upload final ISO 2013-12-10 test final ISO (deadline: 6pm CEST, better start early) All done. A few issues were discovered along the way. I think we can safely ignore these ones for 0.22: * #6477: getTorbuttonUserAgent differs from browser user-agent * #6480: TorBrowser takes too long to shutdown * #6481: TorBrowser proposes to share the microphone with websites These ones, on the other hand, are a bit more serious: * #6478 (Keyboard shortcuts use QWERTY mapping instead of AZERTY on French keyboard): being investigated. * #6479 (Unsafe Browser cannot connect to the Internet): pending review'n'merge, can be easily workaround'd by setting one single pref in about:config. However, while important issues, IMHO they are *not* worth delaying the release. Protecting users ASAP against the newly published Firefox serious security issues feels way more important. 2013-12-11 release 2013-12-11 FF17 is EOL'd ... so, I'm going to prepare the release announce and push it today according to the plan, unless there are serious objections. However, if enough of these issues are fixed by Thursday 6pm CET (potentially with other bugfixes that make a difference), then I'm considering building a 0.22.1 that would be tested on the week-end, and released on Monday. We'll see. [Tails-dev] Next low-hanging fruits session
Hi, We'll gather on #tails @ irc.oftc.net to pick low-hanging fruits on: - Saturday January 4 at 9am UTC / 10am CET Everyone interested to contribute to Tails is warmly welcome to join! The idea is to spend a while together on many small tasks that take less than 2 hours each, and are waiting in our TODO list for too long. During these meetings, we exceptionally allow ourselves to do the review merge process on IRC instead of the usual email -based workflow, so this should all go pretty smoothly. Then, we report back on tails-dev. We also use these meetings to review stuff that's waiting in the queue. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature ___ tails-dev mailing list tails-dev@boum.org https://mailman.boum.org/listinfo/tails-dev

During the December 2013 meeting the following was decided: None of the desktop file should be moved to any other repository. Everyone want them in their respective repository long-term, even if we where to move them to the Tails main repo to make it easy for us on the short-term. Also, moving them so they are separate from the actual application will probably cause problem with keeping them in sync, among other things. All of the desktop files should be made translatable using intltool. How to make use of intltool in each affected repository differ due to different build systems. Subticket for #6470 is created accordingly for each project. intrigeri will look into the Perl ones (persistence-setup, any more that I missed?). We also discussed whether it was an issue that the translated names wasn't the same as the untranslated English names in the documentation, but decided this is not an issue. If one can read the English documentation, one can probably map the names to the translated ones too. ___ tails-dev mailing list tails-dev@boum.org https://mailman.boum.org/listinfo/tails-dev
[Tails-dev] Some problems with the experimental ISO
Hi, the actual experimental ISO [1] freezes on startup (just after the choice between normal boot and failsafe). Choosing failsafe reads This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot Thanks to winterfairy's tip [2] I was able to access the greeter, but unfortunatelly the fact to login in the greeter doesn't seem to work: with any options I activate, i'm falling back to the greeter. I verified the ISO's integrity and reinstalled twice with Tails-installer. Those computer and USB stick used to work smoothly with Tails. [Tails-dev] Rolling release
Greetings, I love the distro!!! You guys do a great job. I have a suggestion: Ever thought of pushing out rolling releases which update the OS vs pushing out completely new iso image? I make the suggestion because it would seem to be easier to pushout updates to the OS, a benchmark ISO would only be released when Debian releases a new stable version (to limit the number of NEW images needing to be created.
