Cool. I've filed https://labs.riseup.net/code/issues/9311 so that it's
not forgotten.

[Tails-dev] Low hanging fruit session: Tuesday May 12

2015-05-01 Thread sajolida
The next low-hanging fruit session is scheduled for:

Tuesday 12 May
#tails-dev on irc.oftc.net
 9 pm in Paris
 8 pm in London
 3 pm in New-York
12 pm in San Francisco

Everyone interested in contributing to Tails is welcome!

The idea is to spend a while together on many small tasks that
take less than 2 hours each.

Not only these sessions are very useful to make Tails better, but we
were happy to see new people joining recently. We hope to see even more
of that in the future as these sessions are great times to start
contributing to Tails!

For newcomers, the list of easy tickets should be a great
place to start: https://tails.boum.org/contribute/easy_tasks/

During these meetings, we exceptionally allow ourselves to do
the review merge process on IRC instead of the usual
email-based workflow, so this should all go pretty smoothly.

We'll also try to handle bug fixes for the next release that are not assigned
to anybody.

[Tails-dev] Tails contributors meeting: Sunday May 03

2015-05-01 Thread sajolida
The next Tails contributors meeting is scheduled for:

Sunday 03 May
#tails-dev on irc.oftc.net
 9 pm in Paris
 8 pm in London
 3 pm in New-York
12 pm in San Francisco

Everyone interested in contributing to Tails is welcome!

Feel free to propose and prepare discussion topics. Either:

  - Raise them in this thread so that others can ask details and prepare the
discussion too.

  - Update the blueprint of the agenda:

https://tails.boum.org/blueprint/monthly_meeting/

  - Make sure that the discussion tickets that you want to treat during the
meeting are well detailed on Redmine.

If you want to get involved but don't know yet how, please introduce
yourself during the meeting, and be sure to tell us what you are
interested in.

The meeting might not be the most adequate time and place to properly
introduce newcomers to the development process, but at least it should
be a fine place to know each others, and schedule a better
suited event.

Then please review and merge feature/9031-tor-browser-4.5 into the devel
 branch.

Merged, thanks! But to be honest, I'm only merging this because of the
time constraints set by the branch submission vs. freeze date.
Usually I would have wanted to see the regressions we've discovered
fixed *before* merging. Anyway, here we are.

This branch still has a few (IMHO quite minor) issues,

I've filed #9309 too.

which makes it fail one scenario in our automated test suite:

 https://labs.riseup.net/code/issues/9031#note-19

Once the Tor 0.2.6 branch was merged, it was also failing all Tor
bridges tests as well. Fixed with commit:4568f7e, please review.

Cheers!

Now, this should be fixed by merging the Tor Browser 4.5 branch in
lockstep with this one, and we're freezing tomorrow, so I don't have
much choice but looking into doing that. Given this + the crazy
timing, I'll forbid myself from nitpicking too much and I'll keep my
 fingers crossed.

Merged, thanks!

[Tails-dev] 1.4: Merged stuff that had no pull request

2015-05-01 Thread intrigeri
Hi,

FTR I've merged (into stable and devel) two branches that had been set
as ready for QA without any explicit pull request that I could find:

  bugfix/9034-remove-useless-logging
  bugfix/9122-fix-set_simple_config_key

Please avoid doing that, since it decreases the chances that anyone
but me will review them, especially if you don't explicitly ask other
people to do review'n'merges a week or two between the freeze. And my
plate is full enough, as you know.

[I feel your pain too, but we're not there yet. So I've started
testing Redmine's Ready for QA Atom feed, to see if that would be
a good enough replacement for manual pull requests sent on this ML.
This could possibly give us the best of both worlds :) ]

Cheers,
