Re: [Tails-dev] Problem with openvpn installation.

2022-03-24 Thread Cody Brownstein

Hi,

Apostolis Koutromanos:

Hello there!
I started using tails os and it is awesome.
But I want to install a VPN. When I run sudo apt-get install openvpn I
get an error about this package. Can you please help me?

Tails currently doesn't support VPNs.

Properly formatted obfs4 bridge lines look like:

  obfs4 1.2.3.4:1234 B0E566C9031657EA7ED3FC9D248E8AC4F37635A4
cert=OYWq67L7MDApdJCctUAF7rX8LHvMxvIBPHOoAp0+YXzlQdsxhw6EapaMNwbbGICkpY8CPQ
iat-mode=0

You *do* need to include the information that follows the IP address and
port of the bridge.

This question seems to come up frequently enough that I'm suggesting we
document what a valid obfs4 bridge line looks like:

I think for this documentation it's fine to use BIOS in place of UEFI.
Regardless of whether the user's computer has a traditional BIOS or a
modern UEFI, the goal is to get Tails to boot off the USB stick.

I agree with this.

On several occasions, issues with the documentation (e.g., missing
images) were mentioned in the tails-dev chat room and were quickly fixed.

I don't know if the user(s) would've taken the time to create a ticket
in GitLab.

Likely there is no problem with the image. But, you need to first
download and import the Tails signing key[1] before you can successfully
verify the image using OpenPGP.

Re: [Tails-dev] Wiki patches, fix dead links

2017-03-10 Thread Cody Brownstein

Thank you for the patches.

The broken link to the Debian Live Manual is bug #12261 on Redmine.

https://labs.riseup.net/code/issues/12261

The link proposed in the patch is to a manual "for a much more
up-to-date version of live-build than [is used for Tails]," (quoting
anonym).

(I learned this also.)
