Indeed. And pond arrived in Debian experimental about three months ago.

Thanks for the link, sycamoreone.

Answer from Jacob: https://twitter.com/ioerror/status/676457009915535360 :)

betraysterminologies88, the fact that some people like it is good news.
I also do like pond & its concepts. But that's not the point :)
We (as in "we, the people") need maintained software which has been at
least vaguely audited.

Cheers!

u,

agl posted that message (almost) two years ago.

Info that old is not really something, IMO, on what we should base the
potential inclusion of Pond, especially since security-orientated people
quite like it (ioerror, isislovecruft).

Today, instead, he said: "First idea: "I shouldn't use this [Pond] for
anything real, it's unmaintained.", as a comment to Pond being available
in Homebrew. Not much changed in the last two years.

Please read the author's statement here:
https://github.com/agl/pond/issues/79:

"I would actually prefer if people didn't package Pond at this time.
It's too immature [..]"

That is why for now at least it's only available in experimental.

[Tails-dev] Pond in Tails

Hi,

Spencer:
Pond seems underusable given the required dependencies and current
condition. Would including it [in Tails] mean these things have been
resolved?

I will take that as a no :)

[Tails-dev] Pond in Tails

2015-11-18 Thread Spencer

Hi,

Jacob Appelbaum:
For many years, Tor was an experiment...

Ricochet is also an experiment and lots of Tails is in a similar state,
no?

Yeah but supporting 'Go' doesn't seem like a good idea in general.

u:
If you have persistence enabled, you can however install it
individually

in Tails.

The SU command 'sudo apt-get install pond' does not work, of course :)

It seems like it would be good to include it by default.

As Pond is still considered "experimental" with no security audit, it
will, from what I understood, not get into Debian (un)stable.

If you have persistence enabled, you can however install it individually
in Tails.

Hi all.

Pond recently got accepted into Debian (sid).

Do you plan on integrating it in Tails (soon?) or letting the project
mature more?
