You should be able to login with only the beyboard like this:

TAB + TAB + ENTER

But I recommend:

  SPACE + TAB + TAB + ENTER

which brings you to the "More options" screen, and then:

   + ENTER + + ENTER

Then you can try to debug the mouse issue with the help of the admin
password, e.g. the systemd journal, /var/log/Xorg.0.log etc.

Cheers!

Tried.

- It's not affected by the X issue. Boots up without `vga=`.
- Mouse does not work in Tails greeter (very first screen) (tab key works)
- Probably works, but only with keyboard navigation. Which I don't know
how to use, since keys like alt + tab are used by the host operating system.

Really was Tails 1.6.

Right.

I don't think it's self contradicting. debian-8 based describes the
Qubes VM that the ISO was downloaded in, not a description of which
Tails version was used.

But yes, testing a Jessie build would be great.

If you believe there's a bug on the Redmine side:
https://labs.riseup.net/code/projects/riseuplabs/issues
(but please ensure you retry with JS enabled first.)

Thanks, interesting.

It would be good to know what version of Tails you tried, because the
bug report is self-contradicting ("I've downloaded Tails 1.6.
Stored in my iso-download (debian-8 based) AppVM").

If you really tried Tails 1.6, then I suggest you retry with
a Jessie-based experimental build:

http://nightly.tails.boum.org/build_Tails_ISO_feature-jessie/lastSuccessful/archive/

[Tails-dev] Tails fails to run inside Qubes OS

2015-10-18 Thread Patrick Schleizer
Hi!

For some reason I cannot answer to any Tails redmine tickets. So here is
my test report of Tails inside Qubes OS.

I've downloaded Tails 1.6. Stored in my iso-download (debian-8 based)
AppVM. Then followed the https://www.qubes-os.org/en/doc/hvm-create/
instructions.

Initially Tails boots. You can see the Tails boot menu. Whatever you
choose, the default option or failsafe, same result. Where it hangs is a
black screen only showing `_`.

There is a partial workaround.

Booted with smaller resolution, `vga=788`. But that workaround still
leaves one with an unusable Tails. It boots up until the graphical
target just fine. The problem is, that the bottom side of the window
reaches below dom0's taskbar. So for example the "ok" button in Tails
launcher outside the visible monitor area.
