RE: AISquared et All: OfficeEnhance Blew Up

2015-12-31 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi Rod: I think it is a WE Problem.
I fired up JAWS and it uses the eloquence synth and the caps speak in the
visual studio editor correctly with a pitch change.
There was a notice that JAWS had to change some setting to enable working in
the visual studio dialogs but I am not sure if it was a jaws setting or
windows setting or visual studio setting they were talking about, I can ask
on another e-list to see if programmers know more about that.
This might give me a clue as to what is going on with the Window Eyes
problem.
There have been other problems in visual studio with WindowEyes as well
which are not there in NVDA nor JAWS and I don't think were there in
Narrator either but only in WindowEyes.
I just tested WE in visual studio to see if it would work but no pitch
change so the jaws change was likely to the jaws scripts configuration based
on the visual studio version I have.
I will ask on the blind programming list to see if someone knows what that
setting may have been to see if I can narrow the problem down more but I
usually get hammered to just buy a copy of jaws by a bunch of the pros - you
get what you pay for as it were.
I already know , but WindowEyes is pretty much free and jaws costs almost a
grand, sigh.

RE: Two Questions

2015-12-31 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Dave,

I hung onto your email since I wanted to ponder your question about storing
phone numbers.
You say you have ten pages, but do you mean ten pages of paper, meaning
you're low vision, or are these in MS Word?
Personally, I've turned to my IPhone 5S for storing names and phone numbers
since it is excellent for this.
I still use Notepad on my PC with just a long list of every number I typed
in, line after line, over the past twenty years.
Frankly, this single text file is still my most reliable and handy way to
store everything about someone, that is, address, phone number, directions
on how to get to their house, notes about them, and searching is as easy as
using Control-F to bring up the search dialog, filling it out and performing
the search.
Please write back and we can chew it some more.

Hello,

Using 9.3, Win 7. And I can not type in the Search Field on Ebay.

It seems that Ebay may have changed their web site just a touch, and now
I am having troubles finding an Edit Line to type in what I am searching
for.

Anyone have a solution?

Second question-

I have 10 pages of Phone numbers, and to find someone on this list is
getting harder and harder as it grows. Anyone able to suggest an
accessible program where I might store names and phone numbers, that
canbe easily looked up?

Re: storeing phone numbers

2015-12-31 Thread M Dorn via Talk
I use a Windows folder and Notepad to keep my address book including
phone numbers and notes for companies and people such as business
hours or directions. I have a .txt file for each entry with the
person or company name and main phone number as the file name. If I
want to go to Social Security to find their number, I open the
address book folder, which is on my desktop with a hot key to get
there quickly. Then I type s o and arrow down if that's not the
entry, or I could type more of the name. Each entry is short, so no
pages to scroll through. If I need more of a search than the first
few characters of the name, I can use the Windows search
function. It's easy to delete an entry when no longer needed,
including all its notations. It's also easy to back up by copying
the address book folder onto an SD card or external hard drive.

The thing I like about Notepad over MS Word is the F3 key. After the
initial search in a file, I can hit F3 and it will go to the next
occurance and without the need to invoke the find dialog and then
escape from it. You're just there.

Re: Radio buttons not announcing checked status using Google Chrome

this has already been sent to the programmers.
usually when browse mode is on and you press the space bar on a radio button
you have to tab away and go back before w e will announce the status of that
radio button.

but press r to go to the first radio button then turn browse mode off. then you
can move between options with the arrow keys if there are more radio buttons
and it will give you the status and the option you are on.

Hi. Today I went online to my bank's website using Google Chrome. I
entered my bank's website address focusing the address bar by pressing
alt-d. After I logged in, I used the transfer feature to send money to my
selected recipients. When I checked the boxes to transfer the funds
immediately, the state of the radio buttons would not properly announce the
status. I know that the radio buttons were checked because I was able to
complete the transactions. The radio buttons still announced that they were
unchecked. I hope that this issue will be resolved in the next release of
Window-eyes.

If you have access to Gmail, I recommend that as a potential solution. All
modern systems can connect to it regardless of platform (Windows, Android,
iOS), and programs like Outlook, Thunderbird, iCloud, Google Maps, BlindSquare
GPS, etc. can access contact details. Keeping contact information in sync
across your devices also occurs automatically, which I really like.

If you have access to Gmail, I recommend that as a potential solution. All
modern systems can connect to it regardless of platform (Windows, Android,
iOS), and programs like Outlook, Thunderbird, iCloud, Google Maps,
BlindSquare GPS, etc. can access contact details. Keeping contact
information in sync across your devices also occurs automatically, which I
really like.

TTFN,
Marilyn

Radio buttons not announcing checked status using Google Chrome

2015-12-31 Thread Michael Massey via Talk

"winamp cannot be found." So I am assuming that somewhere along the
way, Insert w was defined as a short cut to the Winamp player. If this
be the case, how do I undefined it so that it will in fact read the
internet network connectivity?

Thanks.

Re: apps! OFF? or! what?

2015-12-31 Thread net bat via Talk

try looking in the app management section.
they may say the status is on but in app management they may say they are
stopped. if so tab to the security control on the bottom of the screen. you may
have to tell windows to allow all apps to run before they will work.

Subject: apps! OFF? or! what?

For some reason, ever since my upgrade to 9.3.1, my APPS status is
flakey! Often I find them not working, where all the APPS condition
should be toggled on, when in fact though it says "on," they are not
either responding to hot key, or time instance, or status of the
screen when the progress A

APP should be "beeping" at me.
I wonder why this is? When I "re-installed," the APPSthat were
installed from the new install seemed to work, but now, they are
"gone" again, though installed and according to the WE control pannel, "on."
Hmm! Any ideas?

YouTube to MP3 conversion websites for longer videos

2015-12-31 Thread Jeff Samco via Talk

I regularly use the website
http://www.youtube-mp3.org/
to get MP3 files of just the audio. But it has a 20-minute video
length limit.. Anyone know of another service that's friendly to
screen readers like Window-Eyes that handles much longer video lengths?

Thanks,
Jeff
