RE: Window-Eyes and latest Windows Insider build

2020-12-21 Thread Joseph Norton via Talk
Hi there:

This happened after the reboot, not during the install. Install went
smoothly and I was prompted to reboot.

I have no info about the error itself, as the diag tool didn't describe what
the problem was.

I can repeat it if I delete the GW Micro folder under %appdata%.

As for removal, I've got the removal tool if I need it.

Again, though, WE seems to be doing about as well as it did before.

Got it monitoring BARD express as I'm downloading some books. It still
plays real nice with BARD express.

I'm sorry I can't say which build of Windows 10 this applies to, as it may
happen in earlier builds. I'm using insider builds, because I'm playing
with the Windows Subsystem for Linux also, and installation of this system
is a breeze using the insider builds. But, that's neither here nor there.

Cheers.

have you rebooted the computer since you did the setup? it doesn't install the
video drivers until you do.
i don't know if the demo has the emergency removal tool. it is on the full
release on the installation cd if someone has it.
but you would have to run it with narrator running and it won't announce
anything until it has finished and it says window eyes has been completely
removed.

Subject: Window-Eyes and latest Windows Insider build

Just installed WE 9.5.4 demo on Windows 10 Version 2004 (OS Build
21277.1000). This is the latest insider build.

Install went smoothly, but, a few seconds after first run, in addition to
the setup wizard, I got this:

A problem has been detected that could potentially cause

Window-Eyes to behave inefficiently. Sending information about this

problem is strongly recommended so that the issue can be

addressed. Do you want to send information about this problem

now? If you choose Yes, a report will be sent to Ai Squared support

technicians for investigation. If you choose No, no information will be

sent. If you choose Cancel, you will not be prompted again for this

version of Window-Eyes.

Yes No Cancel

Just for the heck of it, I said "Yes", but got an e-mail telling me about
JAWS 18-you know how long that has been in place. I wasn't even expecting
that, because most of GW's Web site is gone. It's gutted, almost like my
house was after the fire in 2007.

No other anomalies, other than what you all probably know about already.

But, it's still chugging along. Still seems to work under latest Edge, and
need to put Chrome back in here.

I have to do almost a complete wipe of the HD to re-install the demo, so
going to re-install my essential programs.

My system stays in a state of flux anyway, so no big deal.

Cheers!
