RE: selecting text and f8 key
Hello all, can anyone direct me to a tutorial about Window Eyes and Windows 7. I have a friend who is finally coming up to Windows 7 from XP. Now back to regular program still in progress. I do f8 twice and hit enter. I will take f8 on its own turns. But It is been proven to me by my own hand that in text editors or word processors, that using ctrl-right or left arrow, while maybe appearing to only select or unselect the first letter, actually select the entire word, and that can be proven simply by copying what has been selected and placing it at the end of the document, and taking a look at your work. Again, technically, you may indeed be right, but for all intents and purposes, the entire word unit is selected. I am not demanding a change when it comes to f8, all though I really would find it more convenient to be able to by default, select an entire word unit, rather than just the first letter, because that is usually what is meant by using the ctrl-shift arrow keys when editing as normally excepted standard procedure. As I've indicated, this isn't the proverbial show-stopper, just a relatively minor irritation. Indeed, if most users of this method have no problem with the present state of affairs, I am willing to concede my minority status and get on with the rest of my life . Have a great day, and keep up your great work, Larry On 7/18/2016 8:43 AM, Rod Hutton via Talk wrote: > Hi Chris, > > Yes, your point is well made and taken, and yet Larry's point is that > with the normal selection method accomplished using Shift and the > arrow keys, words are selected as one navigates to them. > Personally, I've come to develop some memory cues in order to remind > myself what I'm doing and in which context. > It's still easy to get confused, though. smile > > Best, > > Rod > > -Original Message- > From: Talk > [mailto:talk-bounces+rod_hutton=hotmail@lists.window-eyes.com] On > Behalf Of Chris Grabowski via Talk > Sent: Monday, July 18, 2016 7:43 AM > To: Larry Higgins; Window-Eyes Discussion > List > Subject: RE: selecting text and f8 key > > This is standard behavior when using control-left and control-right in > any text editor. > Your cursor lands on the first character of the word. > When you use f8 you are placing a marker where your cursor is. > Pressing > f8 > the second time places the second marker where your cursor is. RE: Using Twitter with WE
I use TW Blu as well. Chris is right, it's a good Twitter client. I like the interface. Like i mentioned it's made by the blind for the blind so of course, it's going to work right out of the box, no extra scripts or anything necessary. It might be a bit of a different concept than you're used to, but the upshoot is that you let the app run in the background and as your tweets come in, you can use different keystrokes to read them from anywhere within windows itself. On windows 7 and 8.1 systems, you use control plus windows plus up and down arrow to read your tweets, and on windows 10, it's alt plus windows plus any other command you want to do. Like I say the documentation is very complete, so be sure to check that out. It's absolutely free, and you can grab a copy from http://www.twblue.es the site and app are made by someone who speaks spanish, but they also understand English very well so if you have any problems he should be able to help you. If you try it, let us know how it goes. On 7/18/2016 11:29 AM, Bob Tinney via Talk wrote: > I'm just starting to use Twitter again and I'm using the mobile site > using IE.
