It will be rolling out over windows update over time they said, just

You can still get the first build which is

Nobody knows why it was pulled from the tool.
When i know more I will let you all know, unless you all want to come

But give groove music a try if you are a music fan at all.
I still struggle with it sometimes but It is pretty cool.
Of course there is facebook and twitter apps.
However you probably won't get anywhere with the twitter app.
Facebook is good though.
I also have an app that I listen to the local fire and police with and
it has some radio stations too.

Its called
5-0 radio police scanner.
With that one, I believe you can pay to listen to more radio stations.
Hope that is a start for you.

Hi current and prospective users of Windows 10:

A few months ago, reputable sources such as tech enthusiast Paul
Thurrott announced that Microsoft will be releasing an update to Windows
10 RTM (build 10240), and it appears we’re just few days away from
meeting it. In order to prepare this list to accept questions about the
Fall update (dubbed by Microsoft as Windows 10 Version 1511), I’ll now
open the road for discussing Windows 10 Fall update (hereby referred to
as hashtag #WinTen1511).

Here’s what’s new in Version 1511:

·Skype comes to Windows 10 via three apps: Skype Phone (voice calls),
Messaging (instant messages) and Video (video calling).

·You can now use your Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 product keys to activate
Windows 10 during a clean install.

·In Settings/Update/Activation, your activation type will be shown (for
many of you, it’ll show you’re activated thanks to digital entitlement).

·You can now use Cortana from a local account.

·Cortana now understands event reminders and can even order an Uber ride
so you can go to your event.

·You can now tell Windows which printer should be set as your default
printer.

·You can have more than 2000 tiles in Start Menu, and you can use up to
four columns of tiles.

·In Task View, you can use the context menu to snap apps to the left or
right half of the screen.

·Improvements to functionality and performance of UI Automation, which
benefits screen readers (all screen readers represented on this forum
are affected), including faster startup. For NVDA users, an annoying
problem where Start button was incorrectly labeled as a list is finally
fixed by Microsoft.

·You’ll be able to view a tab preview and send video content from
Microsoft Edge, as well as ask Cortana about something from a PDF
document when opened with Edge.

·Other new features, changes and bug fixes.

Helpful articles:

·Windows 10 Fall Update (How To Geek):
http://www.howtogeek.com/232176/whats-new-in-windows-10s-first-big-update-the-windows-10-fall-update/

·What’s new in Windows 10 Fall update (Paul Thurrott):
https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/7695/heres-whats-new-in-the-windows-10-fall-update

·What’s new in Windows 10 Fall update and screen readers (Joseph Lee):
http://joslee22590.blogspot.com/2015/11/windows-10-th2-whats-new-screen-reader.html

Just like Windows 10 RTM, you’ll need the following versions of screen
readers:

·JAWS for Windows: 16.0.4350 (17 is recommended).

·Window-Eyes: 9.2.

·NVDA: 2015.3 (you might want to wait until 2015.4 is released as early
as end of this month).

·Other screen readers declaring support for Windows 10.

A few things to note:

·Microsoft hasn’t announced a firm date as to when Windows 10 Version
1511 will be released (various rumors point to this week, but it can
change).

·Until Version 1511 (Fall update) is officially released, please use
#WinTen1511 hashtag so people can filter their email clients (and for
some of you, mute this hashtag). This is done so you and members of the
public can search for relevant messages easily from the list archives.

·Some members of this list have been testing various Version 1511
features and are more than eager to answer your questions. For those
who’ve tasted Fall update, please be patient and understanding when
answering questions (hint: come to win10+Insiders list to find out how
to become one of the first users to taste future versions of Windows 10).

Thank you. As of now, let #WinTen1511 discussion begin (if you want, ask
me offlist if you’d like to forward this to other lists).

Cheers,

Joseph

facebook and window eyes troubles

2015-11-07 Thread Scott VanDeWalle via Talk

Good afternoon from the eastern u.s. I am having trouble with facebook.
I'm using the latest firefox.
And maybe I need to listen to the webinar yet again about facebook with
window eyes, but for the life of me, when i try to post or reply to
comments or like comments or posts, i have so much trouble.
For one thing it seems to me like my cursor always jumps around out of
the box and from the place where i want to be.
The other big problem is when trying to post or reply i can not find the
post or reply button to send the reply off to post on facebook.

Its almost like there isn't one.
If i did not know better, I would swear that there is not one there at all.
I'm going to try to write to the accessibility people at fb also,
however, I thought I'd post here first.

Any ideas?
Thank you and have a wonderful day.

If now we could have filled in the OCR version of such forms, and have
them returned/printed in their original layout, we would all be equated
with the sighted.

Still, a great step forward, and hopefully it will help many users.

Unfortunately, I have already seen a good handful of my PDF files, which
opens well in both Adobe and QRead, being refused by the VirtualView
app. You might want to know, why I even would bother, since the text
does show up in the other readers. Well, because the readers mess up the
columns and other layouts of the documents, so I hoped the OCR would
treat the documents somehow better. But no luck. It does not treat them
at all. Sent a couple of sample documents to Aaron directly, so
hopefully something can be done about it. Maybe just some kind of

Hi All,

Maybe this will help.
As you know window eyes has free apps that you can install and run
with we.
They do all kinds of things like help get access to many windows
programs,
help access all kinds of things etc.
Example: You can check the weather, you can get better access to
outlook the
Microsoft email program and more.
Well, virtual view another free wineyes app has been upgraded with
some of
the most useful features you could imagine.
So, use the free app called app get and either get or update your
virtual
view app.
Then try out the new features Aaron and others are mentioning below.
Example: I just pressed ctrl-alt-v and launched the virtual view app.
I then was able to tab through the apps settings/features.
I cut and pasted a pdf file in to the Virtual View window and wow it
did OCR
on the file and I could read just the text.
This is way cool, check it out and rely on your friends / users on
this list
to learn more and get answers.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Sam

Re: windows insider program

2015-09-21 Thread Scott VanDeWalle via Talk
From what I've seen on win beta.org, or however you spell that, the
next official release of windows ten will be in November.

It was scheduled for October, but they moved it back I guess.

Joe,

Your guess is as good as mine. I would imagine sooner than later if Microsoft
is comfortable enough releasing test builds to the public again. But soon might
be a week from now or a couple months down the line. Even though it's beta
software, I strongly urge any Windows 10 user to give it a try as the
responsiveness fix is night and day better.

Steve,

When will these improvements be available to all windows 10 installations?

Don,

A microsoft account is required to join the Windows Insider program. With that
said, I have never received any messages from Microsoft other than the
occasional policy update. The performance improvement in the latest build is
huge.

I am told by someone at Ai Squared that there is a new update to Windows 10
available to those taking part in the Windows Insider program that resolves
some of the sluggishness or lag issues with Windows 10 and WE 9.2. I have
considered joining the Windows Insider program fast track but have some
questions as it seems that you are required to allow Microsoft to have access
to quite a bit of personal data which can be past along to whom ever Microsoft
deems worthy of getting it.

With my current setup I log in to a local account rather than my Microsoft
account as I have no need for the cloud drive services that is part of a
Microsoft account running at my computer boot.
So my question to those who may already be taking part in the windows insider
program how much stuff does Microsoft send to you when taking part and do you
have to be signed into your Microsoft account to get the benefits of the
insider program.
Thanks for any info..

Hello.
I was in it but i reinstalled windows last night so i could get out of
it for one thing.

But, if you want to see new things before anyone else, that is where to be.

The Windows Insider program seems to offer Windows 10 updates prior to
their final release. The web site for the insider program states that
some updates could require a complete reinstall of the os. I
understand it is basically a beta program for Windows 10 updates but
having the possibility of having to reinstall the OS is a little more
extreme versus lets say a beta program for something like WE. Anyone
in this insider program and is it worth the risk?

Thanks
