I haven't found the list view very easy to work with and it's very easy to delete information. However, if you use the business card view, you can arrow to the right through them or use first letter navigation to get to the first name that starts with that letter, then arrow to find the one you want. Once you find it, hit enter to open the contact. In business card view, the contacts are arranged in a grid pattern with 4 across. Thankfully, arrow keys will move you to the next row of cards, but you can also arrow down to jump to that next row.
