Re: [talk-ph] Easy way to test routing on OSM data

2011-11-04 Thread Anthony Balico
Cool! exactly what I'm looking for.

My brother-in-law came here in the metro as part of his advance training.
He needs to drive around frequently so I installed GarminXT+OSM on his
phone. The tool is doing a great job and it's bringing him from place to
place. But like all gps do, he's having poor signal from time to time,
something which gives him uncomfort. This online routing calculator surely
will help him navigate his way.

Btw, allow me to say my appreciation to Maning. Pre your osm map set server
is awesome! A great help to many

 Go here:
 http://apmon.dev.openstreetmap.org/routing?lat=14.58917lon=121.0708zoom=17layers=M

 Click on the Routing tab.

Click on the start marker and then on the map to select your starting
 point.

Click on the end marker and then on the map to select your destination.

Select your routing engine (don't select Opensource Routing Machine
since it doesn't have data for the Philippines)

 Select other options.

 Then click on Find Route.

 Ta da!

You guys should play around with this in order to find routing errors
and missing turn restrictions (such as no-left-turns).

 Hi all,

Just a quick note on the imagery.
I still have problems stitching them with Hugin.
 More details here : http://osm.totor.ph/

I was able to align part of the pictures further, using
QGIS. Still not good enough in my opinion, but I won't have time to
continue the experiment for the moment.
Altough not good for editing, I uploaded the resulting imagery for viewing
 here :

Selecting the My TMS main layer allows to zoom to 21!

I hope that will be better after replacing the automatic

tall building distort the ground level, so I try to place
all control points on ground level.)

I'm posting this to generate insights on how we should maximize and
accelerate data contributions in bing covered areas.

At the moment there are a lot of bing imagery with minimal active
ph-osmer (perhaps main reason is the lack of imagery). I am
predicting that this will change very soon when other people start to
see that their area of interest has his-res imagery available. As a
community, how do we approach the info dissemination so that people
become aware that there is imagery already in X town?

  Some suggestions:
  1. Lets create a coverage list and add them here:
  http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Philippines/hires_imagery
. Do we have complete coverage sweep:
  http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Bing/Coverage#Philippines ?

  2. Check nearby editors covered by bing and remind them that imagery
is now available (via OSM messaging).

  3. Seed the area by tracing roads (temporarily tagged as
 highway=road).

Adding stub roads can give an impression of completeness. Hence, it
can be counter-productive. Personally, I have reservations on point 3
(but lack the patience to wait for a passionate contributor in X
  town) :) .

On the long term, the main strategy would be to encourage local osm
groups within these imagery covered areas.

  Any ideas?

This came from the SPOT5 donated by Spot-Asia and Certeza Infosys last
year. Pixel resolution is around 10 meters date taken 2008-03-12.

Instructions on how to use in the wiki:

Re: [talk-ph] changes of raod types

Pardon my ignorance, but how do you classify road types?

In the case of Mindanao Ave compared to Quirino Highway, apparently the
former is a wider road so i reclassified the.

[talk-ph] changes of raod types

I'm not objecting but I'm somehow curious about recent
reclassifications of several major roads lately:

1. Portions of Commonwealth from trunk to primary:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=14.66209lon=121.06976zoom=15layers=B000FTF

2. Mindanao Ave from primary to trunk:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=14.67085lon=121.03234zoom=15layers=B000FTF

3. Some parts of Quirino are either primary or trunk:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=14.69974lon=121.03273zoom=15layers=B000FTF

4. MacArthur Hiway from primary to trunk:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=14.6755lon=120.982zoom=15layers=B000FTF

If we follow this trend, then I think Roxas Blvd should also be trunk as
well:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=14.53551lon=121.00028zoom=15layers=B000FTF

Which means Metro Manila roads will be a whole lot greener (in the map
at least).
