Location of camping: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/772630912
Location of uni : http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/634110108
We are looking to get Mikel Maron and Richard Waite as keynotes, we are
getting sponsorship for travel expenses from sponsors. We are mapping right
now the city of shkoder and making good progress, we hope to organize a trip
there to do some mapping in person and meet the mayor who has invited us.
additionally we are working on the kosovo conference on sept 25/26 and we
should have a roadshow in between to visit 2-3 other cities. We are working
on getting peter salus, the god of unix and glynn moody the author of rebel
code, rob savoy of cygwin/gnash and alot more good speakers.
I hope to see some of you at the beach party and osm talks are all welcome,
we can accommodate anyone in a barcamp like style.

thanks,
mike

Re: [OSM-talk] Price for OSM survey

2010-06-15 Thread Gregory
Ideas for OSM goodies could be found here
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Shop (most of which a slice of profits go
to OSM projects).
I also like the idea of a printed poster of your area(or area of choice).
The winner may also just have done the survey to help the OSM-interested
student (I hope I don't have to pay anyone when I do my OSM uni project), so
a donation to the OSM Foundation could be good.

How about offering the winner(s) 3 options that might be: poster, a list of
smaller OSM goodies, donation to OSMF on their behalf.

I'd say cash or at least a cash option. International shipping could get
expensive depending on the location of the recipient. Might also be tariffs
to deal with. Then again, sending an international money order can be just
about as expensive. Hopefully the winner has paypal!

Right, this was somewhat unclear.

The survey is part of a university thesis about online communities and
there will be 1-2 prizes with a value of around 50€ each or maybe 50€ in
cash.
By answering the survey you take part in a draw of these two prizes.

If we hold this survey I'll give you more details, but decided to ask
for good prizes already, so we can plan this better.

Roland

A printed out poster of an area of your choosing would be ideal, and
in the 50 Euro ballpark.

Wow. Every respondent will be getting $50-equivalent? I sure
misunderstood the original announcement.

I'd rather like to choose between:
- Sending 50€ to the OSMF for buying more and better hardware for the servers
- Entering a raffle for a decent GPS device. A Garmin Nüvi or an Android phone
doesn't cost too much, so chances would actually be pretty high (1/2 to 1/4)
- OSM swag pack. High-visibility vest, plus cheat mug, plus stickers and such.

A WinCE based GPS preloaded with all the different software tools we
have developed for the OS ? (e.g. Gosmore)

I am really pleased with my Mio Moov 200. With 2GB of onboard flash it
can store lots of maps. The MioPocket bundle includes apps like a
calculator and Sudoku. Battery life exceeds 5 hours. I've even used
the bright screen as a rear facing bicycle light.

[OSM-talk] Price for OSM survey

2010-06-15 Thread Roland Ramthun
Dear talk@,

at some point in the future there may be a survey on OSM topics, which
is free to take for any OSM member.

You don't need to have any special knowledge or skills to answer the
questions, just to get down to work and fill it out.

To motivate you, there shall be non-cash prizes with a value of approx.
50 Euro.

Do you know of any non-cash prize, ideally related to OSM, which would
motivate you?
Or would you rather take the cash, if possible?

Please tell me on or off list if you have any thoughts on this topic.

Kind regards,
Roland
