Re: [OSM-talk] Tag:manhole=telecom

2020-04-19 Thread Tom Pfeifer
Dear 80hnhtv4agou,

As OpenStreetMap is a worldwide project, we have to agree on a tagging scheme
for an object that
is worldwide comprehensible.

We prefer to use the same tag for the same kind of thing.

Thus we prefer not to introduce synonyms or regional variations.

To make a feature be found more easily, "related terms" can be added in the
wiki.

In the particular case, some friendly colleague has already added ‹ buried
cable enclosure ›
to the manhole=telecom wiki page.

Kind regards
Tom

Re: [OSM-talk] Tag:manhole=telecom

2020-04-19 Thread François Lacombe
Hi

To me there are two separate concepts :
* The enclosure : the underground chamber hosting several equipment
including cable splices
* The manhole : The way technicians get into the enclosure.

For smaller ones, the manhole has the same dimension than enclosure but
there are bigger ones where human can get into.

Then, what do you want to map?

All the best

François
