Re: [OSM-talk-be] Belgian Specialties / Belgische Specialiteiten

2014-12-25 Thread Sander Deryckere
The man_made=works tag (and related product=beer) was totally unknown for
me, and probably for many others. Which might explain why there are so few
breweries.

F.e. the Rodenbach brewery was mapped with quite a lot of additional tags
(website, wikipedia, contact info, ...), but it doesn't have the man_made
tag. http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/170427041

 Recently I made 2 very simple maps with umap.openstreetmap.fr around
 Belgian specialities: frites and beer.

 The first map [1] shows all fritures in Belgium, at least those that are
 mapped as amenity=fast_food + cuisine=friture
 There is a good amount of them already in OSM.

 The second one [2] shows all breweries in Belgium. I map all the
 craft=brewery, building=brewery and man_made=works + product=beer.
 Nevertheless the number is disappointing. Maybe you could remap a brewery
 near you or let me know which tagging scheme you have used ?

 Craft=brewery is used for small (home) breweries, the man_made for
 industrial breweries.

 building=brewery of man_made=works + product=beer is getagged wordt
 getoond. Het aantal is echter teleurstellend. Misschien kunnen jullie de
 brouwerijen in de buurt andere tags geven of me laten weten welk tagging
 schema jullie hebben gebruikt ?

 Normaal gezien wordt craft=brewery for ambachtelijke brouwerijen gebruikt,

brengen.

Hi Marc,

Nice idea. The map might be put on some tourism agencies sites and
promote OSM.
Please
  note this project.

Well, why not also map where we can drink beer as a specialty?
In this pub,
and all
  Vaudrée pubs, they sell several hundreds kinds of beers !!!
I'm sure I had investigated special tags to use for those kinds of
"pubs" and I really wonder why I don't see any that I put on this
one. Did they vanish?

I have added some breweries, but there's a problem.
We cannot have  building=monastery  and  building=brewery  at the
same time, can we?
I and a least one other person have explained several times on the
wiki that the correct tagging is
building=yes  (main, physical object tag, others are attributes)
monastery=yes
hotel=yes (if there's no better tag for their lodging activity)
shop=yes
shop:beer=yes
shop:cheese=yes
etc.
That is very clear and obvious instead of a fuzzy mess where we have
historical=castle but no castles that are not historical instead of
building=yes
castle=yes
historical=yes/no/year
hotel=yes  if the castle is fitted as a hotel
winery=yes  if the castle is a "château Lafitte"

So, what I did is  adding  brewery=yes  to buildings that existed,
without any reshuffling.
I did not tag for the renderer ;-)
Jupiler, Hoegarden, Stella Artois I think, Orval and maybe more to
come.
It's a pity that the (or some) names of the beers are not tagged.
What about the natural
brewery:brand=Name1:Name2...

Please note French=English:
frire = fry  (verb)
frites = chips or fries (fr chips = en crisps)
friture = fried food (not the shop) anything that's fried, the
oil/fat or the action of frying
friterie = chip shop (where they are sold, nl frituur I believe)
The English don't really have traditional shops centered on chips
with side dishes as sausages, rollmop etc. a lot
but a tradition is "fish and chip shop" (cod or haddock) which I
liked very much,
they have modern fast food however but that's not chips centered.
friture is not an English word, so, cuisine=friture is in principle
incorrect (ça ne me dérange pas qu'ils utilisent le français, mais à
condition de ne pas cuisiner le magasin
;-) ).

  André.
