[Talk-ca] Building=yes canvec unknown buildings

2009-07-05 Thread Sam Vekemans
Hi all,
i just want to check with the team here on this.
On the buildings wiki chart for the unknown buildings that are points,
i had them listed as just 'building=yes' and it shows up as an icon of
a house in JOSM, but doesnt get rendered on the 3 osm maps.
Is the decision final to OMITthis feature?
-because it doesnt give much help to the map user if no other
information is given. Until the point has eg. The company name and/or
the building function, it doesnt serve a purpose, other than to fill a
whole in the map.
Eg. In rural Canada, where there actually is NO defining landmarks,
maybe then? But still, each road has a name or #. And these buildings
are considered private property anyway. It appears that all
'businesses with a physical address are listed, and thats what shows
up in CanVec data.
Obviously, id like to keep it, but i think we need to brainstorm other
reasons why.
I agree for the building areas too keep.
Anyway, it (building points) can still be available, but just in that
'extra' folder.

cheers,
Sam

[Talk-ca] TheTom: Roads in Alberta, script gone wild?

2009-07-05 Thread Simon Wood
Hi all,
I've messaged TheTom seperately, but thought best to post here as well.

It looks like a script has gone wild. Down in the Crowsnest Pass highway 3 has
been corrupted with this change:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/31475452/history

It looks like an addition way has be superimposed on top of the original nodes,
which run in both directions. I'm worried that this problem is duplicated in
multiple places.

Cheers,
Mungewell.
