I mean it would be good to find out on the ground which of these bus
stops are still there. If they're still there, the highway=bus_stop
should be re-added, if not the node can be removed. It would be good
to have a bit of community attention on that: if we just leave them in
the database, I'm afraid nobody will look at them.

Re: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] TfWM NaPTAN refresh

2017-02-15 Thread Brian Prangle
Hi Matthijs

I don't understand what there is to sort out. We don't want to delete the
node and its naptan data just the bus_stop tag which the naptan:Status=DEL
indicates. If we delete the node entirely it's difficult to recover if
there any errors in the status and we actually survey one of these on the
ground and find a bus stop actually there.

Brian

It would be good to sort these out, already in Birmingham City Centre
there are quite some.

[Talk-gb-westmidlands] TfWM NaPTAN refresh

2017-02-15 Thread Brian Prangle
I've just removed the highway=bus_stop tag from any NaPTAN node that after
yesterdays' refresh carried the tag naptan:Status=DEL. There were 237
cases. The nodes are still there, just not rendered so if there are any
errors in TfWM's NaPTAN data, a quick adding of a bus_stop tag is all
that's needed

[Talk-gb-westmidlands] TfWM update of NapTAN data

2017-02-15 Thread Brian Prangle
Hi everyone

Yesterday afternoon we updated existing OSM NapTAN nodes in the West
Midlands Combined Authority area as per the plan documented in the wiki.

We used a specific TfWM user account and hashtagged the changeset
#tfwmnaptanrefresh

Basically we added/updated:

highway=bus_stop to all non-CUS stops
current route_ref data to all stops
standardised names: interchange stops ref only, all others common
name/street name
new naptan fields
"towards" data for all marked stops

***OSM position was left unchanged - it's more accurate than TfWM NaPTAN
data***

Please take a look an let us know what you think. I'll release a similar
email to talkgb soon

Next week's tasks:

Remove all NaPTAN nodes marked as DEL (these are bus stops that have been
removed)
Add all NaPTAN nodes addded since the original naptan import
Add shelter data (yes/no plus asset no)

Paul, the TfWM developer, will make his code for merging existing OSM data
with new data freely available so that others can update their NaPTAN data
too. In fact it will work with any OSM data
