Re: [OSM-talk] talk Digest, Vol 158, Issue 90
Clifford, We'll said. OWNERSHIP of your home turf would be a good subject for you to present at the SOTM 2018. It would appeal to those of us "unpaid mappers" who attend SOTM. All the 2017 sessions were interesting, but few related directly to how I map. [Talk-us] SOTM2017 schedule & housing
Thanks Ian, I've been looking at that web site once a month since I bought my ticket and never noticed you have to click on the sheet of paper in the upper right corner to see all the important information. I was feeling pretty stupid but then found that at least one other person had the same problem. A clickable link might get the information out to others like me. Looking forward to SOTM Boulder. [Talk-us] Western TIGER Roads
I've tried to fix TIGER roads near Show Low AZ http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/34.3565/-109.7752 where my daughter has a cabin. I could not reach her cabin in my high clearance van so I called it a highway=track. The best roads appear smudgy black because they've been covered with volcanic ash. Most of the roads are only drive-able up to the last building. Many of these roads have signs with name and often a number. I'm told a number prefixed with a C is maintained by the county and those prefixed with a N are not. I have read the wiki http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/United_States_Unpaved_Roads_Tagging Is there any other resource? Maybe some links to well tagged areas. I'd appreciate someone letting me know how to improve my tagging. Alan ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us

Re: [OSM-talk] Promoting OSM through the media (Bryce Nesbitt)
I liked Bryce's excellent idea to comment on a news story by linking to a OSM "node". Following the link gave a reader not only the location but all of the detail of his changeset. I tried this today by linking a news article to a "way" encompassing a controversial housing development in my town. My link added context to the news article that only included the lot numbers. Next I'll contact our local editor and see if I can link to articles before they are published, maybe I can teach her how to make the links. I'd like to hear more ways to promote OSM. What's yours?
