We can't help the fact that Koreans don't use mailing lists, but we(Andrew) took the first step by making our list more accessible to Koreans by fixing the settings so the Korean text comes through. Hopefully, we'll eventually have a a more Korean friendly community portal, after all this is Korea. Until then we need to use the tools that we have, and try to promote them. There already are many Koreans using OSM that aren't on this mailing list. We need to start contacting them and inviting them to join. Whether or not they do their option. Hopefully we can have a greater community soon once we start bring individuals together. I like Weley's idea to use this mailing list as a newsletter, to keep each other update on map changes, as well as to bring important issues to the forefront so we can all discuss them. I think it would make our lists easier to read if we delete all text after our comments. We don't need to repeat the messages over and over again. . This would make the messages more succinct, and easier to decipher the latest comments.Maybe we could add issue # to our subject line in case someone needs to go back and read the original message. We also need to clean up the wiki. It's become so horrendous that I don't even want to look at it, much less a Korean. This week I'll try to separate the Korean and English Text into two pages, then we as a group can clean it up bit by bit. I just need one Korean to volunteer to help translate the Korean parts. You are right. Koreans does not use mailing list. From the starting of Internet in Korea, using portal or bbs for communication is very common. However, the bigger problem is that OSM map is not usable compared with commercial map. As you know and you can read Korean, map of daum and naver is fantastic. So Koreans don't have need for improving OSM. It is typical chicken or egg problem. The other problem is we don't have basic data. As I know, other country have basic data for making OSM. However, in Korea there is no basic data. The reason is partly from 국립지리원. This orgranization is operated by tax. Oddly, even If I wish to use very basic geographical data for public, they want to pay money. As for the Korean documentation, i had translated some materials for OSM. However it seemed like that nobody used it abd i stopped it. This email may be off topic.
