Re: [talk-ph] Project NOAH-ISAIAH requires the help of the Openstreetmap Community for building footprints

2017-03-11 Thread Ervin Malicdem
Dear All,

The HOT tasks under the #ProjectNOAH-ISAIAH initiative has ended as the
ISAIAH module has officially ended on February 28, 2017. However,
validation is still needed by the OpenStreetMap community to ensure its
accuracy.

Although I am no longer part of Project NOAH as of this month, I would like
to thank the OSM community who helped made this possible. Some were new
contributors we have recruited through the numerous workshops we made all
over the country. I would also like to thank HOT for allowing NOAH to use
the Tasking Manager to make this possible.

The mapping initiative for building footprints has generated over 14
million updates in over 17 thousand changesets made by 452 OSM contributors
as of March 2, 2017. This mapping drive enabled more accurate results for
WebSAFE and the application where it was adapted from, InaSAFE, in
providing exposure data for Taguig, Pateros and the provinces of Abra,
Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Aurora, Cavite, Batangas, Bataan, Camiguin,
Biliran, Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte,
Misamis Oriental, and Zambales in the Philippines. This drive enabled 445%
increase of data in the provinces mentioned in a span of 11 months.

For the list of contributors and their contributions,

A summary about the mapping drive in my OSM Wiki page,

MapGive has graciously provided us with new satellite imagery from 2015 and
2016 for tracing Eastern Samar. The on-going task to where the satellite
imagery is available for OSM tracing is the *Samar Island Task 2033*
*(http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/2033

State University.

*Project NOAH has also recently opened a new mapping task for Leyte Island
Task 2109 **(http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/2109

Visayas State University.

We also have an active mapping task for *Taguig*

Please assist us in mapping building footprints in the Philippines in OSM
so NOAH can develop accurate risk analysis maps for the country.

Thank you for your help!

Please continue mapping up your community. DOST-Project NOAH need this data
to be able to provide exposure data from the hazards map we have created.
Your efforts will help us develop street-level accurate risk analysis map
for your community.

We currently have Task 1966 active for mapping the building footprints of
Zambales.
