Top tip: Tell people how you are feeling, not what you think of them. If you tell someone they are a then their reaction will be hostile; if you tell someone that you're finding the proposal a bit too complicated to understand / fit in with existing practice, then they're a bit more likely to respond constructively. If they don't respond constructively, repeat how it makes you feel - eventually they will get the message.
