This amused me, anyway.  It ties into what Maria was talking about the 
other day re: difficult to translate jokes.

Just found this out from our monthly county newspaper.

It seems that Hellman's Mayonnaise was originally a British product
and was exported around the world.
One of the biggest shipments -- 24,000 quart jars -- was in the cargo
hold of the Titanic.
The Titanic was due to continue on from NYC, after its maiden
crossing, to Mexico, where they were eagerly awaiting the shipment, as
all supplies had been used up.
We all know what happened: the tragic loss of life.and the
loss of the 24K jars of Hellman's.
The Mexicans were so struck by the loss that they set up a national
day of morning that is still observed today.as
