Re: New thing on the market.
Okay, so on the website page it says there are 160 pages. I reckon that's front and back. Tater. On Jan 5, 10:32 pm, mistertaterbug taterbugmu...@gmail.com wrote: I've been meaning to mention this to you all for some days now and it's just been slipping off my mind. A friend of mine in Birmingham by the name of Brant Beene has come up with a little item that you might like so I'll tell you about it. Brant told me he got an old instrument, an inheritance I believe, passed along to him and when he got it he said he found a lot of records in the case; repair bills, notes, maybe song lyrics, etc., just a potpourri of historical items. Brant said he was completely charmed with the contents and found himself feeling fortunate to have not only the instrument, but the pieces of paper that came in the case. It dawned on him that he probably wasn't the only one that felt this way about stuff you might find in the case when you acquire an instrument so he came up with a new product that he calls Case Notes. Basically what it is is a small book that will fit in most instrument cases that has ample pages laid out in sections with these headings(among a few); Instrument type, serial number, make/model, construction date, finish color, binding, bracing pattern, list of appointments/hardware, owner number 1, 2, etc, how/where the instrument was acquired, purchase price, condition, case description, list of signatures of prominent players who played on the instrument, repairs done, by whom/when/where, etc. This seems to me to be a good idea for everybody that likes this sort of historical stuff. The book sample I have is very well made with a sort of very stout leather look cover material, a ribbon bookmark and probably at least 50 pages inside. The book comes in a maroon box. I think Brant has been working with a few instrument makers/dealers to include his product with their's. Apparently there are quite a few folks interested in the Case Notes history book. I've uploaded a cellphone pic of the one I have in the files section. Brant's web address for this item iswww.casenotesdiary.com. Give it a look. Re: Make the case for your favorite case.
Any suggestions on a good case for a '21 Gibson A? Body too big to fit in a modern A case. Neck too short to fit in a modern rectangular F case. Kind of a Mama Bear mandolin problem. Couple of other thoughts for Tater y'all: I love the idea of a page (or pages) of resource links, be it cases, makers, qualified luthiers (the new A needs frets, and there's nobody in Iowa I'd give her to). I don't know about a for-sale page with the Cafe being both free and kind of the de facto standard, as it were, but maybe and available listing for a smaller group of folks (i.e., that tater crowd) would be useful. For example, I'm looking for either a vintage A case or something that'll work. I'll pay money, or I have a kinda vintage ('50 Gibson) F case I'd trade. And I have one of those Apple iSight cameras I bought for Tatercam lessons before I got my new MacBook that I'd sell or GIVE AWAY to anybody who wants to buy it, or could put it to use but doesn't have any money. Kind of a hillbilly hippy swap meet page. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Taterbugmando group. RE: Tobacco Tags
I got mine from the British Association of Country Music. They have compiled all sorts of early American music on CD from 78s. It has a couple of dozen tunes on it, and I paid $5.00 for it. When I get a chance, I am going to go through the Old-Time Magazine's last issue. There is an article on Old-Time music archives on the Web. I thought I'd type them in to Word and give a summary of them free/pay/how much/what types of music, etc. and post it. -Original Message- From: taterbugmando@googlegroups.com [mailto:taterbugma...@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Mike Hoffmann Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 7:12 PM To: taterbugmando@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Tobacco Tags Well come on up to New Jersey and we will do it Speaking of which, Walk Hard was a pretty poor movie, in my opinion, but the songwriting was great, IMHO. Especially Let's Duet It was the same folks who wrote the music for That Thing You Do. Nelson, where did you get your tobacco tags, I only have a couple of songs from Serenade in the Mountains collection. The thing about Jersey Bull Blues is that spoken introduction just tickles me, like tickle torture tickle. It is great! The high pitched I'd love to and then throughout the song you can hear the same falsetto voice singing. And then the end, well that cow sure was scattered all over the world --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Taterbugmando group.
