A quick request, then. /REGISTRY parameter for easier testing!

2004-08-03 Thread MaXxX
Hello all, and especially 9Val :P

I'd VERY much like to test the new filtering system - it's one of my
favourite wishes! :) - but right now I can't permit ANY (potentially
business) mail to be filtered badly, or anything to happen to my
messages (they're backed up, but still...).

So, would it be a big problem to add a commandline option, like,
/REGISTRY blah, that would force TB to use a
HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! blah branch, instead of the default
HKCU\Software\RIT\The Bat! ?

And also, perhaps, the ability to run two separate TB processes (from
two different .EXE files) at the same time? But that might be too
difficult, so as not to break anything...

I think those additions would be a great help for betatesters, who
don't want to either have to use another computer for the testing, or
set up a separate Windows user.

I reported a similar problem in a previous message to this list: see

use the custom header field Sender:. However, this simply didn't
work. I had to revert to the old way of doing it, which searches

consistent menuing - Att: Val

2004-08-03 Thread Jan Rifkinson
In the new filtering system, which seems to be working fine for
me, I did find some of the menus a bit confusing. For example,
the actions choices do not mirror current menuing in sorting
folders. Try finding mark a msg with a special color. I found it
but not where I expected to find it from past experiences with
TB!.

This is not to say that the new menu organization (or oversight)
is not better. I just think, at the end of the day, the menus
have got to become consistent in TB! whatever approach you take.

I have a problem with that: When I open a new folder, it takes some 10
seconds or so before everything is displayed. Also, when the CC is
active, TB slows to a halt. This has been so for a couple of versions
under Win98, but not under XPPro.

I used 2.13/b1 Lucky for a few hours. Opening a folder (here in
Win98) now takes a full minute, and moving from one message to the
next within the same folder takes a few seconds. That's not normal.

I have reverted back to 2.12.02, and the opening times are back to
normal: opening a folder a few seconds, moving from one message to
the next in the blink of an eye. So it's the new beta version.

Just for the record, I opened beta/1 after downloading, then
remembered and closed it again to delete all *.srb files on my HD.
Then I reopened TB. Duno whether it has anything to do with it.

9 Here is a short list of changes:

9 [+] First usable new filtering system

Here is a suggestion I first made several years ago but may have
mentioned again:

We now have seperate filters for

Incoming
Outgoing
Read

messages. (I am excluding the Selective Download filters, as that is
another functinality.)

The suggestion is to make only one kind of filters, with checkboxes
whether this is an

[X] Incoming
[X] Outgoing
[ ] Read
[ ] Replied

filter. The example shows that I would like filters that I can use ofr
Incoming and Outgoing messages, as I have a lot of such filters, and
having to update only one instead of searching and updating both the
Incoming and the Outgoing lists is cumbersome.
