Bored bored bored...

2005-01-12 Thread Foster, Graham
I'd like another beta (even a buggy one!), as I'm in serious danger of
actually doing some real work in the absence of a new TB beta to test.
grin

Any estimates as to when in 2005 the beta series will resume?

Re: Bayes Filter 2.0.1 - DNS Blacklist

2005-01-12 Thread Foster, Graham
Hello Achim

Can you explain how / if Automatic DNS blacklisting / training works.
As I see it blacklist entries in the locally held files need to be
aged so that entries are removed, so that addresses which were
falsely blacklisted will eventually be removed and be retried. How
does your program do this? (Simply on the size of the file??)

Folder gone

2005-01-12 Thread Mark Partous

Hello Beta-Bats,

Some days ago, I made a new folder for PowerPro messages, but it has
disappeared and my filter doesn't wok anymore.

When I try to recreate the folder, I get the message that such a folder
already exists, but I can't find it.

I thought some people had experienced this before and I read what could be
done to make it reappeare again, but I don't remember it.

Does anybody know?

[I recently installed the latest release on another PC in the Network,
using the same messagebase. I don't know if that is what might have
caused it.]

I don't know what happened to your folder, but you can always try
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L, which should find any lost folders.

I have experienced the same, and related aberrant behaviour with two
separate BayesIt! versions of the 0.7.x series. I have just reverted
to BayesIt! 0.5.5 that has always worked fine here, and I've downgraded
from TB! 3.0.1 to 2.12. Both versions are buggy but 2.12 is free if you
already have the 2.x license.

Maybe you should test this with the most recent beta version, which is
3.0.2.10 - you are still using 3.0.1.33 (the 3.0.1 release version). I
think I vaguely remember that this was fixed. And I may be wrong. :-)

The best way to avoid this is to backup ACCOUNT.~FLB and ACCOUNT.FLB
files located in your account folder; all folder data is stored inside
them. When some folders get lost, just close TB! and overwrite these
files with backup copies. This preserves folder templates and other
settings.

Using ctrl+shift+alt+L does not make too much sense because it also
creates duplicate entries for all virtual folders that leads to their
corruption, and folder templates are not restored, although messages
do appear.
