Yes, perfectly clear now.

It looks as though we need two versions of 'AGE', such as 'AGE
(created)' and 'AGE (received)'.

I see too that some people are asking for the age in hours as well:
perhaps an acceptable compromise would be the addition of 'DAYS' 0,25
and 0,5 in the current drop-down menu.

Is the BayesIt filter installed by default? I didn't install it,
though it was listed in Options--> Preferences--> Plugins. I
deleted it there.

Now the Dell Support responses are going to the Junk folder, although
still not identified as spam by K9. I realize Dell support is not what
it once was, but still... :-)

No, I want to view all mails received more than x days ago.

'age' uses the creation date and that is my problem. I want to filter
based on received date and there is currently no way to set up a filter
that shows all messages *received* more than x days ago. Unless I use
'date of', but then I have to edit the filter daily since there is no
way to specify relative values using 'date of'.

If you use two filters, one for 'AGE' greater than, 'AND' and a second one
for 'AGE' less than, should give you only mail a particular day. For
example greater than 3 days and less than 5 days should give you only

I'm not certain though whether this option looks at the received date

Mysterious spam filtering

2005-02-10 Thread P.Johnson
Hello,

I am using K9 to filter spam, and it puts the spam messages into a
"Junk" folder as specified by me in a filter.

There is also a Spam folder in the same account, and certain emails
end up there, even though they are not marked as spam by K9. For
example, Google alerts; and today an automated response from Dell
support ended up in the Spam folder.

What or who is doing this filtering, if not K9? I have no other spam
filters installed. Should I just delete the Spam folder?

Thanks in advance.

Filtering VFs by received date

2005-02-10 Thread Marcus Ohlström
In addition to the current possibility to filter VFs by message age, I
would like to be able to filter based on how many days ago a message was
received.

The "Date of" option would help if I could input relative values. As it
is now, I can only specify fixed dates.

I know this has been discussed here, but I cannot find any BT item.
Before adding one, does anyone know of such an item already?

There's a type of messages that K9 just doesn't seem to be able to catch.
Most of those (it's the type of stuff containing gifs with viagra/cialis ads
if I remember well; it's been awhile since I made the rule)
get caught by this rule (there's an occasional non-spam message that gets
caught, though):

 TB! Message Filter

MoveMessage folder \5C\5CMark\5CInbox\5CSpam

It looks for the presence of ?utf-8?B? or ?utf-8?q? in the headers in
messages that come from addresses not listed in the address book.

Tried to add a note, but I'm afraid it didn't work out as it should.
Got this message from bugtrack:

PROBLEMS SENDING MAIL TO:
Mailer Error: Could not instantiate mail function.

I guess I'll have to try it again, later.

I've just logged an issue with BayesIt.

When I pressed the submit button there a were a number of error
messages about not being able to start the mail process.

I assumed you'd want to know.

Confirmed.
I'm experiencing somewhat the same.
Even though BayesIt catches most (two thirds to three quarters) of my
spam, it seems to be incapable of catching two series of identical
spam messages, I mark them as spam every time.

The body of each one is identical to every other one. Each one is
manually marked as Junk by me. After being trained on this message
something like 150 times, BayesIt /still/ doesn't mark it as spam.

Is there any point in continually training this program or should I
just abandon it?
