For the last week or so I've been getting a particular piece of
spam up to 15 times a day...

- --- CUT HERE ---
4 Wives looking for fun have been matched for you in your area:

1) Lauren, 123 lbs, 5'7, 36c, 21 miles away, available Jan 24-26th
2) Amanda, 121 lbs, 5'9, 36d, 12 miles away, available most week nights (
looking for side-fling)
3) Alexis, 125 lbs, 5'9, 34b, 19 miles away, available Jan 22-28th
4) Rachel, 123 lbs, 5'7, 36c, 12 miles away, available most week nights (
looking for side-fling)

All 4 women are waiting to speak with you live have photos. Webcam's are
available for all 4.

If you have found a lady or not to be paired up then continue.
- --- CUT HERE ---

The body of each one is identical to every other one. Each one is
manually marked as Junk by me. After being trained on this message
something like 150 times, BayesIt /still/ doesn't mark it as spam.

Is there any point in continually training this program or should I
just abandon it?

There's a type of messages that K9 just doesn't seem to be able to catch.
Most of those (it's the type of stuff containing gifs with viagra/cialis ads
if I remember well; it's been awhile since I made the rule)
get caught by this rule (there's an occasional non-spam message that gets
caught, though):

 TB! Message Filter

MoveMessage folder \5C\5CMark\5CInbox\5CSpam

It looks for the presence of ?utf-8?B? or ?utf-8?q? in the headers in
messages that come from addresses not listed in the address book.

Filtering VFs by received date

2005-02-10 Thread Marcus Ohlström
In addition to the current possibility to filter VFs by message age, I
would like to be able to filter based on how many days ago a message was

The Date of option would help if I could input relative values. As it

I know this has been discussed here, but I cannot find any BT item.
Before adding one, does anyone know of such an item already?

Mysterious spam filtering

2005-02-10 Thread P.Johnson
Hello,

I am using K9 to filter spam, and it puts the spam messages into a
Junk folder as specified by me in a filter.

There is also a Spam folder in the same account, and certain emails
end up there, even though they are not marked as spam by K9. For
example, Google alerts; and today an automated response from Dell
support ended up in the Spam folder.

What or who is doing this filtering, if not K9? I have no other spam
filters installed. Should I just delete the Spam folder?

Thanks in advance.

Common Filters neither working nor stable

2005-02-10 Thread Dierk Haasis
Hello TBBETA Members!

Over the past two days I again tried to clean up my Sorting Office
by moving all my filters from accounts to Common. The result is as
grey as the weather in Hamburg today:

  1. Filters when pasted under CF rename themselves to one already in.
 The original vanishes.
  2. One of my filter trees (simple one: one main filter, one
subfilter) although pasted into Incoming shows up outside any
 category.
  3. Trying to access the rogue filter (and later a perfectly looking
one results in an AV (see attached pic), after which the SO come
 up again.

Probably you've installed an anti-spam plug-in. When this wasn't
deliberately, it's likely to be BayesIt.
You can uninstall it at:

If you use two filters, one for 'AGE' greater than, 'AND' and a second one

I'm not certain though whether this option looks at the received date

No, I want to view all mails received more than x days ago.

 or the created date.

'age' uses the creation date and that is my problem. I want to filter
based on received date and there is currently no way to set up a filter
that shows all messages *received* more than x days ago. Unless I use
'date of', but then I have to edit the filter daily since there is no
way to specify relative values using 'date of'.

I hope I made myself more clear.

Is the BayesIt filter installed by default? I didn't install it,

Now the Dell Support responses are going to the Junk folder, although

Yes, perfectly clear now.

It looks as though we need two versions of 'AGE', such as 'AGE
(created)' and 'AGE (received)'.

I see too that some people are asking for the age in hours as well:
perhaps an acceptable compromise would be the addition of 'DAYS' 0,25
and 0,5 in the current drop-down menu.
