Hello WL! On Wednesday, June 21, 2006, 9:38 PM, you wrote: It seems like we keep running into the same problems :) Yes. Don't know whether to put a :( or a :) here. :) Although I guess I lucked out on this issue... Indeed. I think the only other person experiencing this latest is Stuart Hemming, and even he hasn't had the full severity of it that I have. I will just keep experimenting with various settings, to see if I can nail the culprit down. At first I thought maybe my dpi setting might be at fault (I have it at 120, which XP Settings/Advanced describes as Large). But setting it back to Normal had no effect on this. I also did a vigorous weeding out of Temp folders and old, now-unused Apps, gaining thereby 5 GB of HD free space, raising that to 63%, in case there were any file-management issues. RAM on this machine is 512 MB. Task Manager says that TB! is using 103,408 kb of memory, that I am running 49 processes, that the Commit Charge is 317 MB and that CPU usage is ranging between 0% and 16%, usually running up and down between 0% and 4%. Although I did see one spike to 49% while I began collecting these figures, just now. Well, all this description of conditions on my machine may be verging toward OT, even though it's in aid of trying to run down info for my issue with v. 3.81.04. But the list is slow right now, and it may be that the figures will let you or another beta tester come up with an idea of something else I can test to pin down what's happening for me with v. 3.81.04. -- Best regards, Mary The Bat 3.80.06 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 2 Current beta is 3.81.04 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Running with plenty of free-disc here Yes, I thought so. RAM on this machine is 512 MB. And I've got 1Gb so it's prolly not that either. No. Sort of discouraging, but good to get things ruled out. FWIW I'm running with OTFE switched on. I'm running Pro, but without OTFE switched on. It's probably not that, either, as I know there are a few other beta testers who run Pro but no OTFE. I'm wondering if my AV (NOD32) is playing into the mix. Although I have it set not to check e-mail, but only to check files when I open them. Or my firewall, Outpost. I think I could safely disable either of these, temporarily, since I'm behind a router--and additionally, never visit websites that I'm unfamiliar with, unless vouched for by someone I've learned to trust, from experience, or download mail from unknown addresses, or click on attachments I didn't know to expect ahead of time. Ah, and I have SpywareBlaster running. But I already disabled it, earlier, to test if it might be the culprit. All goes well with v. 3.80.06, which you can see I am running at the moment. Thanks for writing, Stuart.
