Hello Alexander, Monday, February 12, 2007, 11:24:53 PM, you wrote: ASK To start withm, your 1st problem could be that there have been no ASK confirmations that other beta testers also lost their folders. Glad to hear I'm not a beta tester! :-) I have better things to do than reporting about folders disappearing from TB! It often takes some time before I see they have disapeared (f.i. when a message that should have been filtered to it stays in the inbox) because a lot of the folders are seldom used. I never lost any messages, nor folders physically, they simply disappeared from TB! I have come to live with it. Perhaps someone who knows what is happening (or should happen) when one uses the Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L combination should write an external tool for us, poor lads, who are not capable of getting this to work! :-) BTW: I can imagine solving this problem in an OFTE setup can be more time-consuming. ASK You can't even reproduce it, or describe what happened before you lost the ASK folders. Since it can take some time before I notice yet another one has disappeared that would ask for a constant logging of all activities on the PC. But then I would not be able to run anything. Re: Again: lost folders in folder-list!
Hi Roelof, Hi Alexander! I sure have weekly backups or at least backups every two weeks. But the folders on the hard disc don't help much, because the names are also encrypted. I thought the folder configuration was kept in a file account.flb or something like that - so this would be the only file to restore. Someone who knows more about that must comment on it. Ah this sounds very very interesting! :-) Could be a quick dirty solution to the problem. Plus I do not create or rename folders very often. Well, that's about that is to know about it. the file is called account.flb and stores the names and directories for all folders, including folder properties like identity and templates. On OTFE configurations the file is called account.efb Every account has its own file, the mail directory has one for the common folders. I have a lot of files in the specified directories. I attached a directory listing for the MAIL directory plus the directory of my main account. As you can see, a lot of junk is there also. It seems that migrating to OTFE did not vanish all the unencrypted files (see file date/time). An intersting question is what files I can remove without killing my configuration. ;-) But still having unencrypted files isn't the way it should be. Now, does anybody know if the folder.* or the account.* is the file which could help me getting back the folders when they get missing? -- Regards, Martin The Bat! v3.95.6 powered by Windows 2003 5.2 Build 3790 Service Pack 1 ConCarne cooks best since 1998 http://www.concarne.orgVerzeichnis von D:\INTERNET\TheBat\MAIL 13.02.2007 19:00DIR . 13.02.2007 19:00DIR .. 11.02.2007 17:14DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01.02.2007 21:56DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01.02.2007 21:56DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01.02.2007 22:00DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01.02.2007 22:03DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 13.02.2007 18:59DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01.02.2007 22:15DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 06.02.2007 15:00DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01.02.2007 22:21DIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] 30.05.2005 20:12 4.096 AccOrder.EFG 25.11.2005 08:47 4.096 Account.CFN 18.05.2005 21:3912.288 ACCOUNT.EFB 13.02.2007 01:18 8.192 ACCOUNT.EFN 18.05.2005 19:5712.288 ACCOUNT.ERB 18.05.2005 21:43 8.512 ACCOUNT.FLB 18.05.2005 21:43 8.736 ACCOUNT.SRB 18.05.2005 21:3912.288 ACCOUNT.~EFB 18.05.2005 21:43 8.512 ACCOUNT.~FLB 13.02.2007 01:18 4.096 ADDRBOOK.ENI 18.05.2005 21:43 559 ADDRBOOK.INI 12.02.2007 01:10 4.096 AVConfig.ENI 07.02.2007 00:20 133 avconfig.ini 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 COLORS.ENI 18.05.2005 21:3977.824 ConCarne.EBD 18.05.2005 21:4313.232 CONFIG.CDB 12.02.2007 23:3524.576 CONFIG.EDB 18.05.2005 21:3912.288 Events.EFG 24.08.2006 21:2317.583 except.log 13.02.2007 18:5129.454 ex_log.txt 18.05.2005 21:3961.440 gdngs.EBD 18.05.2005 21:4327 GROUPS.CFG 18.05.2005 19:57 4.096 ikey.chk 18.05.2005 19:5788 ikey.id 18.05.2005 21:43 3.680 IntermCA.ABD 18.05.2005 21:39 8.192 IntermCA.EBD 18.05.2005 21:43 3.808 LDAP#1.ABD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#1.EBD 18.05.2005 21:43 3.680 LDAP#2.ABD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#2.EBD 18.05.2005 21:43 3.680 LDAP#3.ABD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#3.EBD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#4.EBD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#5.EBD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#6.EBD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#7.EBD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 LDAP#8.EBD 18.05.2005 19:5765 mastrkey.dat 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 PGP.ENI 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 PRINT.ENI 18.05.2005 21:43 247.360 RootCA.ABD 18.05.2005 23:44 217.088 RootCA.EBD 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 SmartBat.EXT 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 SMIME.ENI 13.02.2007 01:18 1.024 smimernd.bin 18.05.2005 21:39 4.096 TBPlugin.ENI 21.07.2005 08:28 1.062 tbuser.def 12.02.2007 22:53 4.096 tbuser.EEF 18.05.2005 21:43 4.476 TheBat.ABD 12.02.2007 22:55 647.168 TheBat.EBD 18.05.2005 19:57 4.096 token.dat 10.12.2005 13:12 4.096 USERDEPT.ENI Verzeichnis von D:[EMAIL PROTECTED] 13.02.2007 18:59DIR . 13.02.2007 18:59DIR .. 12.02.2007 22:11DIR 01EA7BD1.DC8 01.02.2007 22:03DIR 020834FD.013 12.02.2007 21:07DIR 022FBB25.CF2 12.02.2007 21:20DIR 036F1F4E.1AE 01.02.2007 22:03DIR 073BCF67.499 12.02.2007 21:03DIR
Re: Again: lost folders in folder-list!
Hi Bob, Hi Thomas! Would it help - and make your life easier - if your TB folders AND TB were on your C: drive? Or wouldn't that help with this lost folders problem that I gather is not completely new to you? I certainly advise against that. My Windows XP is currently unusable (details can be read on TBOT), and I expect that a Windows re-install with a formatted C: drive will be necessary. D: holds the programs, and E: holds the data (including message bases). I don't fear a formatting of C:. This is one of the reasons I prefer having TB on one of my data drives. A second reason is that I often sychronize TB to my notebook. For this the quickest solution is synchronizing the TB directory (everything, which means program files plus data files, is inside this directory) to the same location (in my environment D:\INTERNET\TheBat) plus copying the registry keys. And to those who responded to your frustration: I do think it is not helpful for any of us to use derogatory terms like whining. Everyone loses. Well, I sure was a bit harsh when bringing up the thread. But I really was p*ssed that this happend again. I knew that this will be a lot of work to get the folders back into TB so I wasn't very amused. But I still can't understand why the people got upset, too. I was complaining about the program and the company behind it, not the people here in the list. -- Regards, Martin The Bat! v3.95.6 powered by Windows 2003 5.2 Build 3790 Service Pack 1 ConCarne cooks best since 1998 http://www.concarne.org smime.p7s Description: S/MIME Cryptographic Signature Current beta is 3.96.04 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Re: 3.96.05.1 (BETA)
Hi Ian A. White, Wednesday, February 14, 2007 you let us know -possibly edited- : There is an issue with an error on exit, however it only happens if I send or receive an e-mail. I can start The Bat! and then close it and no problems. If I start The Bat!, send or receive a message and then close it, I get an alert asking if I want to send a report to MS. When I close that (and I have to do that twice because the dialog comes up twice, I find another alert telling me that there is a RTE 216 @ 00404A0E This RTE and address are the same every time I do this. Confirmed. This is annoying, I found a faster way to exit TB: I click on debug instead and get no further dialogues -if I don't then I see the same as you do. -- kind regards Charlene Ferrara mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.96.5.1 (BETA) on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Skype: charleneferrara Current beta is 3.96.04 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Re: Again: lost folders in folder-list!
Hello Martin, A second reason is that I often sychronize TB to my notebook. For this the quickest solution is synchronizing the TB directory (everything, which means program files plus data files, is inside this directory) to the same location (in my environment D:\INTERNET\TheBat) plus copying the registry keys. How do you do/achieve synchronisation? I'm wondering if your lost folders could be a consequence of this. -- Best regards, Miguel A.
